HELP - bought new PC for MSFS2020 and cannot install the sim!

Please help. I bought a new laptop SPECIFICALLY to play MSFS2020. I purchased the Premium Deluxe edition at launch for over $120. However, Microsoft now will not let me install the game. Everything I go to install the game in the MS store, it says error. However, it shows a Game of the year edition as a separate game and wants to charge me an additional $120. That is B.S. I’ll return the computer before doing that.

What steps do I need to do? GOTY edition is just SU7, which is included in my previous purchase. What specific steps do I need to take? Please help.

MS makes it SO HARD to install these.

Hi. Perhaps you could explain in detail and attach the screenshot of the error, so people in this forum can try to help you.

If you already have Premium Deluxe, you will get The GOTY free of charge by updating the game later, after you installed it.

Try this link for support, I had to use it a couple of times and they were quick to resolve… Click on the ‘Contact Us’ button and request a call back. Hope this helps!

You also need to make sure the “MS store items” are all updated prior to game download/install. Also, all MS windows updates need to be on PC. There are some other little things MSFS wants to see before it will download. Make sure those are all installed first.

And dont forget you need the Xbox app installed. (yes I know you dont have an Xbox)

Update. It took updating everything (Windows, drivers, MS store, Xbox app) plus restarting the new PC. The fifth time was a charm. 2 hour download finished and installed. Currently playing it. Some of the default settings changed in SU7 but switching them back so far so good.

Phew! Great to hear. Yeah any update in the the market place resets assistant settings :rage:. Hopefully fixed in a future release. It’s just forced me to select the real life options so a quick fix now!

Now your addiction will commence, it will not stop with NEW PC, it will morph into a Throttle Device, rudder pedals (not really a high priority item, mostly for realism), a high-quality flight yoke or joystick or both, then that will require a new monitor, and a larger desk, which might mean a bigger room, which may require a bigger house/apartment. At some point the better half will complain about not having your attention, which may require a new one of those as well. In retrospect, this game is costly, and possibly destructive to life.

Well, I don’t. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Um, well, not quite. Already have a good enough flight stick. Half the time fly with my son to places he wants to explore. Really like the new PC. Can max out everything in Ultra, except still experimenting with LOD. Have it at 300, but not sure what going higher will do. Every other single setting maxed and it plays great, even in New York City.

All - It’s a joke son, you know, something supposed to be funny! However, if you have cheap equipment, i.e., low end joysticks, throttle stuff, one day you will replace it, and don’t buy cheap again, buy good quality hardware, and you will be Happer.
