The xtx is going to be the better of the two cards, but I would recommend not getting a reference version with the stock cooler design and 2500MHz boost clock. Some of those have a defect that cause them to run excessively hot unless you mount them vertically. It performs about on par with the 4080 in rasterize performance at a lower price, but the 4080 starts getting you to acceptable ray tracing performance. I’ve always used Nvidia up until I got my current 6600XT, and I’m planning to get the 7900xtx for my next GPU (upgrading my CPU/mobo/ram first). If budget is of no concern, the 4090 is the top end hands down, but that’s too rich for my blood.
