Hi there to all you guys. As for the subject, I don’t know what happened this morning. I started msfs2020 as usual on my xbox and performed the update requested. FYI I don’t know what update number is this (I did it today, 25th august). Right after the update I went to the content manager and did some minor update which went perfectly. After this fs crashes to the main xbox screen, some 30 seconds after going in the main fs screen.
Please, help me, I’m desperate because I really don’t know what to do. The only thing I could do is to detach the voltage cord for something like 30 minutes. But nothing changed.
Here’s some specs:
In my xbox I have only msfs2020
I fly mainly with PMDG 737 which works flawlessly.
I have some a/c purchased (Carenado PC12 and Honda Jet) which as for the 737 are working perfectly.
I have thrustmaster combo with yoke, throttle and rudder. Never had a problem with them.
I have logitech mouse and keyboard connected with a usb dongle. Never had a problem with it before.
I’m counting on your knowledge to solve this thing which, as said, I really don’t know how to handle it

Ok…I know now how to turn the xbox on in safe mode (lots of YouTube video about it) but I still don’t know how to boot fs2020 in safe mode. In fact I think this is a fs2020 issue and not a xbox one. I hope I don’t have to reinstall everything from scratch…
Personally I find in the long run it is more likely to succeed in fixing issues by simply biting the bullet and just uninstalling msfs2020,all assignments / settings should save automatically.This method always works for me as painful as it is ( I do have a fast connection) .When Msfs 2020 is reinstalled do not install world updates or any addons,just test with a default aircraft and if all is good then put the Pmdg737 back in again and test,then install WU’s.
I know it is the extreme option but it always fixed my Xbox X ,in fact I did it again last week ,took 30 mins to reinstall msfs2020 ,longer for WU’s.
I’ve had no issues with playing UNTIL I recently downloaded several updates. Think I may be pushing my system to hard. Should never have downloaded every thing like that. Frequent crashing. Believe I’m going to do a clean instal. Need to check first and see if I can keep or get my optional aircraft.
Hi! Although I do not have an Xbox, I think that the mechanisms of working with a PC are similar, try to remove from the add-ons what has been updated recently, perhaps you noticed that, say, after updating any add-on, you noticed that these crashes appeared (you should not delete the game itself, there may be a conflict of versions of the game and add-ons)
Thanks guys for your replies. I really think this has something to do with the last update. Don’t know what’s the number. I saw that after the mandatory update I went to the content manager messages and to the manager. Tried to install things but failed. So the only thing I had different than last time I used it is the mandatory update.
Now a curious thing: I could go to the content manager, tried to get to it prior to the crash. While on the content manager it doesn’t crash. Strangest thing!
Anyways…while on the main screen of xbox (not fs) I found the list of things regarding fs2020: add-ons, content offline, and so on. In order to do properly how do I proceed for a reinstall?
if you have access to the Community folder where the addons are installed, it’s better to do it manually, remove the addons from there one at a time and check what breaks the game launch.
Ok…after careful thinking I came to the conclusion that I will unistall/reinstall the thing. Can you please tell me the correct procedure for xbox?
What I sadly regret to loose are the joystick assignment which I did with great care and took lots of time to achieve as they are now. I guess the purchased add-ons are to be found on the market. But do you think the assignment will be lost?
From the Xbox dashboard, highlight MSFS 2020 and press the hamburger button. It’ll bring up a menu with the option to Manage Game. Choose that and you can uninstall then reinstall. Unless you tell it to delete everything, it will keep your settings including your control profile. These are saved on the cloud and will resync when you launch it the first time.
If this doesn’t fix it, you may need to choose the Manage Storage option and delete all your downloaded assets and game save. But I’d try reinstalling first without doing this. That usually fixes most problems.
I’m about to do the uninstall procedure. Please, check the attached pic. It’s in Italian but easy to understand. It shows the manage fs2020 screen. On the right side, from top to bottom you can find the game itself, going below the update square, and on the lowest side the saved data square. You suggest to uninstall the game leaving the saved data alone to be found on the next installation. Is this correct?
I’d go into the Dati Salvati and delete/clear the file “Reserved Space” first, before uninstalling and reinstalling the entire 235GB of the sim.
If that doesn’t cure the crash at launch, then you can uninstall the sim and reinstall it.
Clearing the Reserved Space will remove add-ons and reset a few settings, such as the Rolling Cache and a few other non-volatile sim settings. All of your control mappings will be restored via the cloud save as @TheM00ps said.
When I flew Xbox, this was what would cure a crash at boot for me 100% of the time.
Thanks my friend for your precious help. So, to understand: the lower square (dati salvati) which I believe it is the addons, will be deleted. This means that pmdg 737, carenado planes, and all my purchases will be gone from the sim. But this also mean that I will reinstall them from the market, right?
In addition…if i uninstall the game but leave the addons reinstalling the sim, what happens?
If you click on Dati Salvati, you’re going to see two items: Save Data and Reserved Space. Just leave the save data and delete/clear the Reserved Space.
