Help, searching for this combo: landing gear, flaps and parking brake

Hi

I’m searching for a device with this combo. Right now I’m running out of enough buttons to assign those functions.

I know virtualflight Switcho Trims (that would be perfect for me) but it’s very expensive at the moment. Another alternative: saitek panels but I would prefer something in one only panel (I’d need two of those panels, and I don’t have so much space either).

Do you know another options?

Regards

Does one of the thrustmaster throttles (airbus or Boeing) have all of these?

Yeah but I’m looking for a module. I’ve already got a throttle, and I don’t have much room for another one.

At the risk of sharing a thought that you may well already have accounted for, I find it invaluable to ‘double-button’ particularly with buttons that are not used in the air (such as brake).

If when you ‘scan’ in the settings for the button to use, you press two, then that becomes the setting, eg [F1]+[Y] - which I use for Pushback.

Anyways worth double-checking that the combination you have in mind isn’t already being used for something else by scanning it, but usually it isn’t.

On my basic Xbox HOTAS that effectively gives me a second and third set of buttons to play with…

Great idea! I hadn’t thought of that possibility. Thank you.

Possible to add a mini keyboard to your setup? Then you can have as much complexity as you want. That is if you can figure out this unfathomable new profile system.

talking about mini keyboard, I wonder if it would be possible to assign different functions to an inexpensive USB numeric keyboard, avoiding any conflict with those assigned to the main keyboard.

I understand that, if the new profile system detect a second numeric keyboard, it would be possible assign different functions. The number 5 on the main keyboard would be different from the number 5 in the mini usb keyboard. Hopefully someone can confirm this.

I’ve just connected a 2nd keyboard to my PC, but FS only detects 1 keyboard and not a 2nd keyboard device where bind diferent assigments. So I suppose that with a mini num keyboard will happen the same :frowning:

HI, did you find anything? I’m looking for same thing.

Sadly, I found out that it is not possible to use a mini USB numeric keyboard. Windows is not capable of recognizing a second keyboard (mini or standard) as a different device; it only sees one. There are some ways to solve this using AutoHotkey, but I think it’s too complex for what I’m looking for (and it seems that it doesn’t work very well with FS)

Finally, I remembered this little device that I had almost forgotten.

I used to use it in my Falcon AF and DCS years, but as my interest in mil sims became zero, I kept it inside a box without using it. Until now. It has a utility to program macros for each button.

So this is has been my solution.

Hope it helps and merry xmas.

Another update: I’ve found these little programmable keyboards on Amazon:

There are different options with more or fewer buttons, wireless, with a cable, etc. I’ve bought one with two knobs for rudder and aileron trims and to have enough buttons for more shortcuts.

Unlike mice and keyboards, multiple gamepads can have individual configurations. I set a second one up to the left of my yoke so that right thumbstick left-right axis is nosewheel steering (you have to unbind all other left and right actions on the right thumbstick).

Now when taking off, the gamepad rumbles while the nosewheel is under load. A nice audio indicator. When it stops, the nosewheel is no longer under load, and your yoke and rudder pedals are effective.

Really easy to steer on the ground, rather than mousing around or using buttons, since you have finer-grained control.

So you can set the dpad up/down to increase/decrease flaps, left to toggle parking brake, and right to toggle landing gear. Problem solved on the cheap, doesn’t take up much space, and you can assign other buttons/axis to other purposes.
