Help, Sim Freezes on loading ANY type of flight, after Iberia Update

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No.

Brief description of the issue:

Load the sim, launch any type of flight.

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Yesterday I was flying no issues, 40 fps in VR, wonderful.
Today I’ve updated to Iberia and I’m encountering this issue which is new to me.

While trying to load any flight, whether is on my own or flight school or landing challenges, whatever, the loading screen for the flight stops at around80 percent, Task Manager shows the sim is not responding.
I’ve tried emptying the Community, addons, starting in Safe mode, increase virtual memory all the way to 32000/24000 ! ,…
But still can’t launch any type of flight.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Oh, also brought any kind of overclocking to default, although it was running fine yesterday with everything overclocked.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Load the sim / Try launching any flight

PC specs and/or peripheral set up if relevant:

i9 12900K, 3080Ti, Windows 11 latest build.

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

World Update VIII Iberia

How long did you wait?
I could take a while after an update. I face this many times when i do update the FBW A320. Sometimes i wait Minutes at first startup.

20 minutes… :slightly_frowning_face:

I know what you mean, normally, when that happens I still get the fans of my 3080ti at full speed.
But now, as soon as I get Not Responding on the Task Manager, the fans get quiet. It’s a real crash.
The sim is not responding, can’t move its window or anything.

This happened to me, couldn’t load a thing even with an empty community folder and safe mode. I tried to verify files on steam and now the Sim wants to download a 123gb update :weary: first time I’ve ever had an issue with an update.

Ok, truly to long.

Well, i have this thing with the “No Response” at the Taskmanager as well, but not 20 minutes or so.
Didin’t count it, but i guess after a huge Update it could be around 2-3 Minutes or so and the sim starts running again. “No Response” doesn’t mean, that the Process really died.

Same here, did the “third update” as you can see in the picture.
But the problem persists. Also get disconnections from servers all the time while in menus.
Right now, sim is not connecting to network, the computer is connecting fine.

True!
Specially when running in VR, so I waited, and waited, aaaaand waited…
Never had this problem before.

Topic moved into Community Help Center.

Thank you @Hester40MT

So, any suggestions on what to try?
I’m out of ideas, the only thing I haven’t done is delete all and install from scratch.
I’m also wondering, should I “downgrade” to Windows 10? Wondering…

Verify files deletes your setup, so yes, you will be downloading the whole sim agagin.

Try logging out of MSStore and Xbox app.
Restart PC and log bsack into both.

Thanks, I did that and still freezes on loading a flight.
I’ve just deleted e v e r y t h i n g, and is now reinstalling.
Holding my breath.
(while singing the ‘why me’ blues)

May I ask, about windows 10 or 11… what would do suggest?
This hardware is brand new, 12900k, Z690, DDR5, firecuda and such.

There is quite a discussion on that in here.
I’d say that about half the folks that try it, it works fine.
The other half have issues.
I would not even think about Window’s 11 until you have the sim running properly again!

The thing is that when I put this new hardware together, I went with Windows 11, thinking it would be optimized for newer hardware, so I’ve been running the sim for about a week with its best performance ever, 40 fps in VR, almost everything at ultra and amazing clarity.
But I’m wondering if what happened today to me, this problem with the update, would have happened is I was running Windows 10.
I’ll see after it finishes downloading the whole sim again.
If it doesn’t work, I guess, I’ll try installing Windows 10 and the sim again.

Cheers!

If you had the sim running OK under Windows 11, don’t change back.
I doubt there would have been any difference with 10 or 11 in that respect.

Just finished reinstalling the sim.
Uninstalled from Steam first, then deleted any folder left, like inside appdata and such.
Restart.
Install the sim from scratch, C drive and made sure only Microsoft/Asobo is installed in Content Manger.
Community folder as default.

Things are even worse now.
Before it froze when loading a flight, 80 percent through the loading part.
Now it freezes right in the world view.
I can, for like half a second, pan de map, and immediately freezes for a while. Regain control, try to click on a ramp or something, it freezes again for a while. This can be minutes sometimes or tons of minutes.
Right now, trying to set a departure point in Santander airport in Spain… Task Manager says, Not Responding.
While processor is sitting idle, graphics card the same.
No disk activity or network activity from the sim either.
I can also see that it’s not loading bing maps, it’s default terrain in the map.
For the love of… I can’t even begin to understand what’s going on.
Yesterday, before the update, I was the happiest camper ever with the sim.

Please help… anyone.

Do you use a separate Virusscansoftware? Delete it and use then the Windows one.
Any overclocking tweaks? MSFS don’t like that.
All drivers installed and actual?

guess there are most likely more than that which can interfere with the sim.
