Help, Sim Freezes on loading ANY type of flight, after Iberia Update

No antivirus of any kind, just default Defender from Windows, same as yesterday.
Set BIOS to default, just in case.
Yesterday I was running overclocked to 5.2 for hours, no issues.
All drivers installed, same as yesterday.

Seriously, I am about to cry, this is a brand new install, the rest, all the same as yesterday.

As soon as I try to pan the map, it freezes again.

Iā€™ve reset the BIOS again, factory default.
Graphics card, factory default.
Launch the sim, it opens.
World map, zoom in.
As soon as I get a bit of detail, it completely freezes.

After a long while, managed to exit to main menu.
Disabled online functionality and back to World window.
Click on a random airport and selected Fly.
It starts loading the flight, Cessna 152, and it freezes again at around 80 percent.
Task manager says, Not Responding.
Itā€™s been sitting there for about 30 minutes :cold_sweat:

edit, an interesting fact, the Intro music keeps playing in the background while sitting idle/Not Responding :woman_shrugging:

This is from the MS Troubleshooter.

DELETE STEAM CLOUD SAVE (STEAM VERSION)

WARNING: Doing so will delete your logbook permanently.

If the crash happens upon loading:

  • Close Microsoft Flight Simulator
  • Right-click on the Microsoft Flight Simulator icon
  • Go to Properties
  • Uncheck the ā€œKeep Game saves in the cloud for Microsoft Flight Simulatorā€ box
  • Go C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata
  • Find the folder corresponding to your profile and delete the folder Steam\userdata\usernumber)\1250410
  • Restart Microsoft Flight Simulator

Thanks @TheSevenflyer , I really appreciate your help.

I saw that while opening a ticket with Zendesk.
My heart shrunk. Losing my logbook? Thatā€™d be the last thing to try for me.

Bug was opened and I already sent some files theyā€™ve requested.
Letā€™s see how it goes.
Still unable to fly.

Not sure what that means, exactly, but if your motherboard is fairly new, make sure to update to the latest BIOS version. This is particularly important with DDR5 RAM.

I doubt your mentioned problem is related, though.

Let us know what they suggest and how it works out!
With a steam set up, I think there may be way to save your logbook if you want to try this.

Iā€™ve got it!

Kept on trying things and found the issue.

The day before the update, I was trying MSFS2020 Map Replacement v4.2.1.

This tool has a button labeled ā€™ Back to Bing Mapā€™, which the user must use before closing the app.

I canā€™t remember, but my guess is that I didnā€™t use that button.

And apparently some hosts file doesnā€™t update as it should.

When launching the sim after the update, I didnā€™t use the tool, so the hosts file had the wrong info.

Now it makes sense that apart from the freezes, I was not getting any Bing graphics.

Tried with the add on active and got no problems at all.
Soā€¦

If youā€™re using
MSFS2020 Map Replacement 4.2.1 (as of today)
Make sure you click on
Back To Bing Map
Before closing the app, specially after any sim update.

Thank you all for your support.
Cheers.
