!HELP! Somewhat urgend! CTDs after every attempt of starting any flight

I’ve contacted the Xbox Support Team about this at least 5 times, probably even more I’d like to say.

Anyway…

MSFS keeps crashing EVEN after a complete reinstall of win 11 and msfs alike, WITHOUT any errors message whatsoever…

I’m sorry for writing in caps but I’m afraid the Xbox Support seemingly isn’t very helpful either, despite my numerous attempts of contacting them, they apparently cannot resolve the issue…

The sim worked for around two years, after that it keeps crashing nonstop, even after only starting up a flight…

It first started, after a year then it began with error messages regarding a supposed RAM issue, checked it microsofts built-in RAM dianostics and UBCD just to make sure, both said there is no issue,

Furthermore I also checked and tried out other games, like Tom Clancys Breakpoint by ubisoft, trial edition though, no problem, errors whatsoever…

Going to play AFOP after launch in dec 7 thjis year, but I digress …

And even if I’m successful in starting up a flight, it only lasts for a couple seconds and even then after almost every landing attempt it crashes again, it’s increasingly starts to drive my crazy at this point…

Also its worth mentioning that I almost have no addons only those regarding that automated removal of the top middle down facing annoying arrow and performance enhancements regarding the pelican…

Hopefully its on some help, that I bought MSFS via MS-Store…

Maybe your expertise might be of some help, but Xbox support, as stated previously, is unable to provide any resolution whatsoever…

Thank you very much for your help…

Hi,

First I would look over the following two pages on the support site:

Other things to try are:

  • Empty your Community folder, where all non-Marketplace addons reside. The quick way to do this is renamed the folder e.g “Community1”, then re-launch the sim.
  • Turn off the rolling cache, which is in “Options/Data” I believe.
  • Remove any overclocks your system may have, be it CPU/GPU/RAM.
  • Turn off live traffic. You should see choices of AI, Live, and Off I believe.
  • Have no external programs connect to the sim i.e. LittleNavMap
  • Check display driver version. “Tech Talk” is where users will discuss driver versions, and reporting any issues observed: Tech Talk - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

Hi there, well I already tried all of those things,
first of all, I don’t overclock …
my community folder is now completely empty
As stated previously i DELETED all windows partitions and thus all apps and programs reinstalled everything also msfs…
I began initially with DISM and SFC after each other basically …

So in short, they unfortunately are of no help either

Check the thread just below about the CTD at map zooming. Seems to be the same root cause.

Tl:dr
Limit your Ethernet card to 100mbit/s half duplex in the device manager and report back. I’ve had exactly this issue and this worked around it 100% of the time. Many others report the same even if it sound’s crazy. Probably something get’s tangled up with high bandwidth and bing data. Limiting the bandwidth seems to circumvent the issues. Hope it’s the same issue you have.

Edit: and obviously set it back to autonegotiation when you have finished your sim session.

We’ve moved your topic into the General Discussion & Community Support category.

The Bug Reporting category is for posting suspected or confirmed bugs that other users are able to reproduce. Using the template is required in order to provide valuable information, feedback, and replication steps to our test team.

If you are not sure if your issue is a bug or need further input from the community, please use the Community Support category. If the community can replicate your issue, first search the Bug Reporting category to see if there’s an existing topic. If it already exists, contribute to that report. Duplicate bug reports will be closed.

If you believe it is a new report, then create a new bug topic using the provided topic template.

All issues caused by or involving third-party addons/mods should be reported to the third-party developer. Assure that no addons/mods are used when reporting issues in Bug Reports.

It already had ethernet set to auto or autonegtiate as you called it when I reinstalled win 11 clean, then I tried to set the limitation to 100 and half duplex

It took ever longer to boot, yet with the same result, CTD without any error message

But thank you for your response and help, very much appreciated

I had the exact same problem CTD every ■■■■ time! Could not even start a flight.

My fix had nothing to do with hardware! The solution for me was:

  • Synchronize Windows 11 time
  • Setup location services in Windows 11 (maybe not necessary?)

Since then - rock solid no CTD, no altering hardware settings (Memory XMP is enabled etc) latest drivers etc (NVIDIA 546.17 WHQL GeForce Game Ready Driver, also worked on older drivers)

May this help you also friends! :pray:t4:

Sorry to hear. Obviously those CTDs can have numerous root causes.

For me it was my power supply, installed a new power supply and problems solved!

Well I was hoping that would solve it, but I‘ve synced the time multiple times, also set every service to auto / manual, depending on what win 11 would basically let my do and then rebooted

I forgot to mention that I also uninstalled msfs via revo uninstaller, the program basically allows you to delete all registry entries in the database in windows and then reinstalled it, still CTDs

sorry guys

maybe I have to switch to x-plane then -.-

Have you looked at the crash report in the event viewer? Any hints there?

I don’t know if you have seen this:

ok so i was plauged with this exact issue. i managed to troubleshoot it and the cause was my yoke bindings profiles. set them back to defualt and try to start a flight

There is a new tool available to back up your logbook, but I forget its name. @N6722C mentioned it on a livestream the other day. They could backup their logbook, wipe their save, then restore it after.

Personally HIGHLY recommended. Quality App that does what it says it does. For me, it was an Instant Buy, and no regrets.

Just a thought. Delete all temp files, reboot and try again.

Start/Run/ Type %^temp%, delete all files that you can. Restart. Try again.
