What would you get for msfs: brand new rtx3060 or gtx1080ti from aftermarket? I’m targeting for 1080p ultra. Please advise
And the obligatory video cards are hard to get still due to chip shortages, etc.
Hopefully that eases up soon but the chip shortage has caused big problems for every industry that uses big silicon in their stuff.
the gtx1080Ti on a single screen with ultra you be pushing the card to the max.
same with mutiple screens forget it on ultra.
i have a gtx 1080Ti with 3 screens and get around 40FPS but i have only 1 setting on ultra and the rest on high or medium.

these two are available in stock at local store. 3060 are worth $1100 here, so that’s already more that I’d like to spend 
1080ti refurb without ray tracing and all other modern features support costs $870
I would patiently wait for the GPU market to normalize. The 1080ti is two gens old. On the other hand the 3060 would run well on 1080p but its underpowered. You might be better off waiting on something better.
Check Guru3D review of the RTX 3060. I think it is tied with the GTX 1080 Ti for MSFS and it is better in DX12 games. The 3060 has less power draw and has newer architecture, but check the full review.
If I had the money I would get the RTX 3060, but I expected it to be clearly ahead of the RTX 2070 Super. Which is not. That made me hold the purchase before the crypto boom. A couple days later it was costing three times the price (LOL).
