Help with new PC specification

No, the G2 not only needs a display port cable (included) but is also mains powered as well, it comes with a breakout box that you must plug into the wall or a plug socket at least. The upside is that you get a brighter image than with the Quest 2 at least. The cable doesn’t bother me at all, but I only use the G2 for seated PCVR stuff, for everything else I still prefer the Quest 2.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the Aero, but I’m active on the Aero Discord and the number of people complaining about dead pixels, motion blue, chromatic abberation and bad performance has put me off. I’m thinking Meta’s Cambria might be the one to go for, but we’ll have to see.

Regarding PC obsolescence, yes its unavoidable but buying at the launch of the next gen at least maximises the usage. I like a PC to last 3 years and I try and buy at the launch of a major Nvidia GPU cycle, so I got my current PC in December 2020 when the 3090’s were available, before that I bought a PC when the 1080Ti came out.

I am very tempted to buy another PC this year if the 4090 and 13900k represent a substantial upgrade, even though its only been two years.

My main PC use case is MSFS in VR so if I can get a substantial performance boost in December I’ll probably bite the bullet and go for it, even with my current 10850k, 3090 rig it’s not quite good enough.

Maybe DirectX12 and DLSS will improve it enough, but I also want a next gen headset when something launches, and then its harder to run all over again.
