I’ve started experimenting with visual approach procedures and VNAV. Sometimes it seems to work great but I often make mistakes. Usually the biggest problem I run into is the airplane staying on the original waypoint to the airport and not the runway. The other issue seems to be the airplane wanting to turn away from from the line, like it’s a repelling force.
What is the difference between load and activate?
What is the difference between Straight and Vectors?
What should be done if the final leg to the airport does not intersect the approach path?
How close should one take the AP in to the landing? I always feel like it’s not quite right and take over, but it might be I’m used to doing it wrong.
When it works best is if I add a waypoint before takeoff that intersects with the runway and then load the approach.
When I get into trouble is when trying to program the visual approach in flight after getting runway clearance from ATC.
