I am planning to build a new pc and thought you guys could help me out on choosing between a few parts .
For my cpu i am between the ryzen 5700x3d and 7600 ( total build cost is the same ) , i dont care that much about upgradability because i have pretty long update cycles .
For the gpu i am between the rtx 4070/4060ti 16 gb and the rx 7700xt/7800xt , where i live the 4060ti costs 465 , the 4070 585 , the 7700xt 460 and the 7800xt 530 ,
I dont see myself using frame generation that much.
*For ram i will use 32 gb either ddr4 3200 or ddr5 5600
I currently am at 1080p but would like to upgrade to 1440p in the future and would like to play with settings on high/ultra , i dont use custom airports/scenery but i do see myself using complex aircraft (pmdg 737 , fenix a320)
For a little bit more you could bump up the cpu to a 7800x3d which is the best cpu for MSFS (and many other games). Any of the gpu’s is more than enough for 1440p, however, for MSFS the clear winner to me is the 7800XT due to its 16gig of VRAM. MSFS eats VRAM like candy which helps provide a smoother sim experience.
Where i live the 7800x3d comes out to about 160 more wich is out of my budget , do you think the 7600 or the 5700x3d would give me more performance and would the 7700 have any uplift
Also i have heard that amd is really bad in xplane , is that true?
For MSFS, the 5700x3d (8 cores/older AM4 platform) would most likely be your best cpu of the ones you mentioned since it has the 96mb of 3d-vcache. However, going with the 7600/7700 on the current AM5 platform is also a good option as it would provide you with an upgrade path down the road. The 7700 would be best since it has 8 cores while the 7600 only has 6 cores. For a new purchase, I’d highly recommend an 8 core processor for the sim.
I have no experience with xplane so I do not have an opinion here.
