Help with setup for my PC

Hi guys!

Recently I upgraded my system to these components:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi
XFX AMD RX6800 XT
32GB Crucial Ballistic DDR4 3600 RAM

Monitor is 4K with Freesync, and Windows is in a 1Tb Samsung 860 Evo Sata SSD. FS is in the same SSD.

Running with no OC (all stock, only XMP on and BAR on)

All drivers installed and updated. Latest Windows 10 build freshly installed. Game mode on.

AMD Radeon Software is all default, no changes at all. Freesync is on.

I thought I would have better performance from this system, but I’m getting about 35-40 FPS in ground at LEBL with default or FBW A320. And very stuttering experience, with screen tearing also.

I don’t have all the settings in Ultra, followed the settings topic on this forum and tested some settings change.

Hope you guys can help me to get better performance from my system.

Thanks you!

Not sure if any of these ideas will help but you can try and see.

Have you installed the latest AMD X570 chipset drivers?
https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x570

Once you have those installed (assuming you don’t already) reboot the PC and set your power plan to the AMD Ryzen high performance option.

In the windows Graphics setting I find I get less stuttering with Hags on and the App set to high performance, I do however have an Nvidia 2070 super rather than an AMD graphics card so I’m not sure how these setting fare with an AMD card.

I also find my monitor doesn’t work well with Freesync on for MSFS so I use the Nvidia control panel to limit the fps and set Vsync on which stops any tearing and generally makes it run pretty smoothly.

Thanks you!

Just installed latest chipset drivers. I installed the ones from MSI web the first time. Now from AMD as you said.
Can’t see the custom Ryzen power plans, I think they’re not included for the 5000 Ryzen processors as they’re not needed anymore from what I remember.

No luck, 45-50 Fps with actual settings but with some stuttering, not smooth as butter. Tried with Freesync and without.

Maybe I need to down the refresh rate to 30Hz, lock FPS at 30 and enable Vsync. But 30Hz seems odd nowadays.

45-50 fps @4k is exactly what you should be getting. If the stutters are happening on approach/final those are to be expected at the moment until the developer addresses those issues.
Also thanks for saving me the effort to type that all out @XTCQuinn

You’re on the money with the settings and screenshots

To add what Quinn said about Vsync… You would turn it off within the sim and enable it by selecting AMD optimized within the display settings area of the Radeon software.
Also … please ensure that freesync is enabled within your monitor settings. Some monitors do not have this feature on by default.

I set my monitor refresh rate to 120 in the Nvidia panel and use the nvidia frame rate limit at 34fps and vsync set to fast (off in game settings)
I’m not sure why this works as it’s usually best to have the monitor and refresh rate set to the same or a multiple of.
Again not sure if you have similar options available for your AMD card but worth a look.
You should be able to use monitor at 120hz and fps limit at 40 though if you can maintain that?

Thanks you!!

So, I’m ok with my settings and the problem is the software not good optimized. Hope the next update bring us improvements!

I have Freesync on in my monitor (Advanced Freesync). My monitor only supports 60Hz or 30Hz. I think Freesync works in the 40-60Hz range in this monitor.

Maybe it’s time for a modern ultrawide 2K monitor with 120 or 144Hz!

I think your’e set for now. Some prefer 4k and some (like Myself went for 2k ultrawide and scaled up the render scale). Make note that some monitors will have a slight flicker when freesync is on and working so it may bother some users.

I would enjoy the sim for now and wait for the update coming later in the month to see if it addresses the stuttering issue.

Your system is very close to mine in most respects with the only major difference being you on 4k and me on 2k Ultrawide with a render scale of 110 i probably get around 7 to 10 more frames than you at the moment so i know you are in the ballpark since you are throwing out more pixels @ 4k

Thanks again mate!

Will think about going ultrawide.
