my problem is eventally I get really high and unplayable CPU frame times for no reason. I have an 5800x3d so theres no reason to have high cpu frame times. I will start off by getting 60 FPS at say KLax, then after a while I get some where in the 50’s, 40’s, 30’s and so on all the way down to about 8 fps. At first Restarting the sim fixes it, and then I will have to rerstart the computer, to evtually needing to reinstall the sim… There is a clear pattern, and it slowly gets worse over the course of a few days. I’ve noticed that ALT+F4 out of the game seems to quicken it up. My computer is pretty high-end, so I have no clue why it is acting like this. Any suggestions on this would be appreciated.

I noticed not only your main thread, but also CPU manipulators is sky high. Do a search on here for “CPU manipulators” and peruse the various threads. There seems to be several possible causes through the years for this slowing frame rates during long usage, combined with a main thread and manipulators spike as you have. Some of the more common themes are being specific to one aircraft, or related to online/multiplayer traffic needing turned off and back on.
I’m not sure who recommends using Alt+F4 to exit MSFS because it doesn’t allow MSFS to exit gracefully. (Details available upon request.) The correct way to exit when flying is finished is to use the MSFS menus. This allows MSFS and Windows to properly clean up any files being sent or received from the servers, finish processing any registry keys and open files, and close any video cache files or files used by 3rd party apps. Yes, it takes time to properly close MSFS but it saves time from having to remove and completely install MSFS on a frequent basis.
When you are finished using your computer for the day, do you just unplug the power cord? Removing the power cord shuts down a PC much faster than using Windows Shutdown but leaves a lot of garbage that Windows has to clean up or fix. Occasionally a Windows file gets corrupted requiring a Windows Restore or a fresh Windows install to fix.
Using Alt+F4 to exit MSFS or any other program is not recommended by anyone unless a program is completely frozen. This may not fix your issue or even related to what is happening but it may avoid creating other problems.
So it’s not overheating I’m at about 50c. It’s not the GPU it happened on an Nvidia GPU too. Intel arc doesn’t play well with dx 11, msfs at first launch asks if you want to use dx12.
It could just be my manipulators, but this has to be a big it’s predictable… I’ve been replacing PC parts starting with a GPU, then a CPU, memory, PSU and mobo, it’s happened on all hardware configurations…
I’ve reinstalled windows countless times.
To clarify it isn’t even with long use times if I close msfs, it takes a reboot to get it to work properly. Thanks for the advice I hope I got everyones advice.
Sometimes it can be months since it was automatically timmed though.
If you right-click your Disk in Explorer (Local Disk C: and any others) then Properties > Tools > Optimise, you can see the state here and click Optimise to force it. Doubt that is the issue though…
I just discovered that MY issue was that Frame Generation was ON in the PC (2D) settings and somehow this affects the VR display. Turned that off now and it’s perfect.
So not sure why the driver (older one I wrote about) helped the other day coz I came back to it today and it was bad again and I had not made any changes. But I set FG off and it’s as it should be now here. Not sure if you have a similar thing on the Radeon? Maybe VSynch?
