The trim actually started to work better for me now after I got back into flying after a several update long break. My settings had been reset so that I had to disable the automatic trim assist but after that I could actually get some larger trim wheel movements out without any external software to manage it. Trying to start with a fresh configuration might be worth a shot since I’ve seen other people say that did the trick.
For added configurability some external tool like Authentikit or Joystick Gremlin is probably still worth it.
