Hooked on Career Mode

Career Mode is getting me by for now, as other bugs get worked out. It is truly mind boggling how much you can do, and how any place in the world is full of activities. Just the tip of the iceberg right now. But I quite like what I have seen so far.

Looking forward to it! Right now, getting all my controls and settings where they need to be is a little daunting, but I’ll dive into Career soon.

I am far more sour on it, but I am glad that you are enjoying your time with it so much! What specifically is appealing to you so far, and how far in have you gotten? What sorts of missions have you flown?
Please excuse the questions, I am just curious.

I kinda like it too, but I just wish there was a way to remove some of the elements, such as the extremely simplified ATC (press ENTER and listen to your avatar and controller talk). I also hate the fact I don’t need to plan anything (I’m stuck after PPL trying to get through “first missions”) and that there are those rendered highways-in-the-sky to show where to fly. But maybe those can be turned off in the Assistance settings?

Settings > Controls > Tools > Assistances > Toggle Visual Assistances Display

I mapped it to Alt+V

Do you know if you can also turn off the simplified (ENTER-driven) ATC functionality? I’m fine with the cheesy passenger comments and all - that’s part of the “mission”/“story” - but I’d have a lot more enjoyment if I could instead just use SayIntentions or BeyondATC for missions

Not yet. I hope that gets another option soon.

I wish your HQ actually mattered. I should be pulling missions out of my HQ base, flying to another airport and have the options of picking avialable missions at that airport… On and on. It should be real time (that can be adjusted if you can’t fly at night yet).
This cut and paste your flying out of whatever airport the mission is sending you is just ludacris.

What about all the missing planes can we buy them? Surely we should be able to use every default aircraft in career mode

I fully agree. Just like with Flight Academy’s courses, I dislike the map-hopping, and would get a lot more immersion from doing it all in the same region, like you would in actual flight training. The sim offers world-hopping anyway, once training is done, so I don’t understand why it works like this. Maybe technical reasons, as the qualification missions seems very bespoke in their design?

I quite like the training for the Cessna, turns, power setting, climbing, descending.

It’s pretty good at both spotting mistakes and rewarding success, like maintaining height during turns.

The percent rating seems fair, so it encourages accurate flying.

One nagging thing is I want the tactile feeling of an elevator trim wheel.

I’ve bought a small USB macro keyboard, 12 keys and 2 encoders. I plan to program one encoder as elevator trim and see how it feels.

Moderator Edit:
With the 208, it was impossible to carry out missions. On each flight, ATC asks me to climb to FL310. The 208 does not go higher than the FL 210.
Sad.

Avec le 208 impossible de faire des missions. A chaque vol l’ATC me demande de monter au FL310. Le 208 ne monte pas plus haut que le FL 210.
Désolant.

Change your Flight Plan on the EFB. Not only can you change your lateral routing, but the cruise flight level. I was getting FL044 when flying in the mountains and FL440 on C208 randomly generated. I have found the sweet spot for C208 between FL110-150, and PC12/C408 at FL190.
