About the event

Nearly two years in the making, this groundbreaking, epic, multimedia sim tour is at long last ready to take to the skies!

This 3-hour excursion is jam-packed with everything a serious movie and TV buff could ask for: film locations, movie and TV studios and backlots, celebrity homes, and tons of rich Hollywood history dating back over 100 years to the very beginning of the entertainment industry in Hollywood, California!

I’ve selected hundreds of movie stills and behind-the-scenes photos to accompany each and every waypoint along the tour, as well as mixed dozens of audio clips with music and narration for you to enjoy as you hover above these legendary sites.

This amazing tour will require just a little preparation on your end, however, in order to enjoy the fullest experience of the multimedia aspects. VR pilots will need to download and install the free EBAG mod in the links below in order to view all of the images. The mod download includes instructions from the developer, and I’ll include a second page of instructions myself to make it sound a bit simpler. Pilots who fly on 2D monitors (pancake mode) can simply open up the folder in Windows using their favorite image viewer such as Windows Media Player.

For the audio clips, you need do nothing but have your Discord settings at their usual place. However, the majority of the clips include pre-recorded narrative, so either mute your microphones during the tour, or use push-to-talk and save your questions/comments for those times when the narrative is live or during breaks. I’ll alert you when those times pop up.

You will need to download a zip file from my Google Drive that includes the images folder, a POI’s folder, various instructions docs, and the complimentary custom livery for the Bell 407 (shown in the tour’s banner photo). I also highly recommend participants take some time to manually cache the area within which the tour takes place. I’m including a screenshot of a map of said area.

Take-off is at 19:00 UTC. The flight time will be about 3 hours long and we will make a 10 minute break halfway through. And as always with Flight Sim Break, Join when you can, leave when you must!

RECOMMENDED AIRCRAFT:

HELICOPTERS! You will want to fly something in which you can HOVER, freeing up one hand to click through the images. Choose an aircraft that can keep up with the pack at about 120/130 knots. If you have mastered the F-35 or Harrier’s hover functions, that could work, too. Slow-moving fixed wing aircraft will be difficult to both fly and mouse-click at the same time.

Here are some free add-ons to enhance your experience during this tour. It is STRONGLY advised that you download and install the EBAG image viewer mod. The narration, music, and audio clips are timed to play in concert with viewing the images, so don’t deprive yourself of this essential element of the tour!

PLEASE NOTE that both Hollywood signs work, but only install one of them to avoid a double image.

In just about 1,5 hrs time, this beautiful audio&visual tour will start, turning a piece of the earth known as the San Fernando Valley into a very interesting movie and TV-series&shows narrative… It’s time for HOllyWood to shead some knowledge upon the flightsim community. Join us!

And no, i’m not being payd. Skytreks asked me to join him in a test session last sunday and i was rather impressed at all the work he’d done over the last months to come to this… i can tell you, it’s well worth the time. I too have hovered infront of the Hollywood sign, but this tour goes much deeper into the history of movies and series that were made behind and infront of that famous sign.

One tip though, once in a hover, hit the active pause, so you can listen to the audiotour that lists the next location dedicated to movie&series&Show making hollywood whilst highlighting particular buildings or sights… we cant land everywhere, but with active pause, partissipants can whip out their (drone) camera’s
and take in the scene’s, or skip to the next picture in the Electronic flightbag, So one doesn’t have to FLy, listen, and skip pictures at the same time.
