Brief description of the issue:

Hard stutter when yopu look down from the Horizon line, never used to get it and my PC and Graphics settings havent changed however over the last 6 months I’d say it has started to happen at hevaier areas, majorly ones surrounded in Photogrammetry

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Just follow what I did in the video which was move your camera above the horizon line and back down

Many issues may be due to an outdated graphics card. Please state your Graphics Card Driver Manufacturer (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD) and Version (Learn how to find your current graphics card driver version):

Nvidia Game ready driver 560.81

3070, I7 12700K, 32GBS RAM, 1tb SSD M.2

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

Cant say exact one but roughly started I’d say 4 months ago

What I see is a higher FPS when not viewing the glass displays (such as when viewing the overhead panel). The camera is moving so quickly that it is hard to determine if the FPS changes are caused by where the camera is pointing vs. the movement of the camera viewpoint itself.

If you think the issue is caused by Photogrammetry, try running the same test in three areas with the aircraft shown in your video and compare results:

  • A major airport in an area with the latest Photogrammetry improvements.
  • A major airport in an area which has not had any Photogrammetry improvements in the last 6 months.
  • An airport in an area with no specific world or city update, such as somewhere in central Africa.

Then repeat with another default aircraft that does not have glass panels.

So I did a few tests and asked friends who experience the same issue even with higher spec PCs, and it seems it’s everywhere not even just PG areas. So from what I’m seeing it’s being caused by the scenario being heavier on perf, for example at iniBuilds EGLL before the new PG is installed I never got that stutter, but after installing it, I did, and I think because the area has become heavier with the addition of PG it’s triggering it.

Just unsure why it’s stuttering at that specific point when you move your camera past it. Even when you go super slow moving it down, you still notice it subtly, but it doesn’t matter if I have good FPS in the area anyway though, it just seems after a certain point, it’s happening. And from my experience I think the heavier a scenario gets on perf the longer the stutter is

Sorry if this is just rambling on, it’s so hard to describe:hear_no_evil::joy:

Edit - I have tried with aircraft that have no glass panels such as the JustFlight Fokker 28 and it doesn’t happen for me unless it’s somewhere like LAX where it’s super heavy

I guess that’s because every time the horizon line is out of sight, all the farthest assets are offloaded*, and they have to be reloaded once the horizon line re-enters the view. PG or heavy airport areas have more stuff to reload, and the stutter is more evident. Complex glass cockpits also make it worse.
Probably another trick to deal with the memory limitations on consoles.

*I believe from the VRAM, since the stutter is a GPU spike in the developer’s fps counter. And it happens also with 24 GB cards of course…

Yeah I assumed it would be something to do with offloading stuff when you move above the horizon line. I guess we can just hope there’s a better method for that in MSFS2024 so it isn’t just loading everything back in as soon as you pan the camera back down
