Horizon Sim 787-9 Available

I don’t think I’ve had this STARS to ILS problem at all with the BravoAirspace or any other plane I fly. I’ll try the SFO ARCHI approach tomorrow myself…

Maybe I am missing something but I am just not coming out with flight plans that include the ILS. You would think there was a good YouTube video with the number of IFR pilots. When I click on anything ILS/approach I get an upsell window.

“Upsell window?”

This is what I get. This function is inherent in MS FlightPlanner.

This function is relatively new, and tied to the Charts subscription that’s separate from Simbrief

The approach procedure was never provided in the Simbrief plan, not even when it was a separate entity from Navigraph; besides, you don’t file/plan an approach procedure, you have it assigned by traffic control - at best you can expect one from the ATIS/airport rules/weather/experience. So, including one in a service that aims at making a “realistic” flight plan is pointless

Correct on all of those points. Simbrief will suggest SIDS and STARS for your plan, but it won’t be imported into the 787 (or any plane in the sim). In the 787, you assign the SIDS and STARS to your plan by the DEP/APP buttons in the FMS.

All of the 787’s in the Sim are certainly capable of flying those STARS, but you do actually have to assign them (and, as @Nahcep4338 points out, if you’re using ATC injection into the sim like BeyondATC, 8 times out of 10 the ATC is going to vector you into your ILS approach and not just give you permission to fly your preferred STAR).

Would anyone know why the aircraft suggests a trim of 6.00 with a CG of 24.4? When I set that, the plane hugged the runway on takeoff and refused to rotate until 190 knots. When I ignored the recommended trim setting with exactly the same weights and CG and set trim to 8.00, the plane took off as it normally should. What gives? I loaded the aircraft according to SimBrief’s planned weights, using the FMC. Then I calculated my takeoff speeds in the EFB. I did everything the correct way, but it still recommended a trim of 6.00 every time, which is way too low.

Another thing I noticed is that on climb-out, the plane auto-trims itself into the 14-15 range, and I have to fight it so it doesn’t stall. Is this standard on the 787? Because this doesn’t happen on the 787-8 or 787-10 in MSFS.

Mate, on that topic of SIDs and especially STARS…

In real life and in BeyondATC…

How are especially STARS flown in real life? Are they actually mostly flown with vectors? Just in Bangkok on holiday and watching the flightpaths and for the most part, they match up with the STARS in navigraph. Although some definitely look like they are vectors.

Bangkok in particular follows the procedures a lot because of the very congested airspace - two close, busy airports and a large city, so you’ll often see planes go through the whole STAR which ends in obligatory vectors to final

But all that depends on airport and traffic, you can have ATC give you a shortcut by vectoring or directing you to a waypoint, either within the STAR or an approach fix. Don’t know if that is included in BATC, it would require some calculating for the sake of maintaining separation and the like, but definitely human-ran ATC (both the actual and sim services like Vatsim) do that all the time when possible

Thanks heaps for that man.

Yeah its very interesting being here.

Our apartment we are staying in have views that take in arrivals and departures for both airports and especially don mueang, 99% of the departures do a hard bank to the right but there has been one or two that fly over our apartment, both was during a thunder cell that drifted over the airport.
Then you have the very interesting star for arrivals from the middle east etc into bangkok airport that looks like a line up of don mueang for a few dog legs..
Im guessing there is a strick rules on over flying Bangkok proper as its only north bound departures from BKK that over fly our apartment which is near enough to downtown.

So basically heavily congested airports like here would fly the full star and not so much airports would definitely have short cut vectors
