As the post reads i’m suffering horrible graphic quality yet again.
I check my internet repeatedly and I’m getting 40 mbps down and 20 up.
My system is an i9-13900, 32 GB ram, RTX 4090.
VR HP G2 V2
I’m running DX11 and have dialed all my settings back from ultra just to high.
VR settings-
Render Scaling 100
Fidelity Sharpening 100
TLOD 150
OLD 100
I’m desperate for any suggestions that might help.
The graphics are equally bad in PC mode.
Topic moved from General Discussion.
“Tech Talk” is the sub-category meant for simmers to discuss, ask or answer any questions related to sim installation, performance, crashes (CTDs), graphics and optimization, hardware, peripherals, community folder/add-ons, and anything that falls under the umbrella of “running the sim”.
Hey Hoboflier, i cut back sliders from ultra to high as you but still getting that fuzzy texture.
Servers maybe?
I hope it’s just the servers because this is just terrible.
I saw that you are in VR and it triggered by PTSD from the last month that saw me pack all my controllers away and just hate MSFS.
I’m now running well, unless when I start up later today I’m the same as you. Anyway, here are a few things that may help you.
The first thing I did was go offline and fly in an area that is in my cache. This eliminates the server element. I do this in 2D, pancake or PC mode, whatever you want to call it to see if that works. If it doesn’t, it means that it is your computer. As I have ranted on about before, if you had good performance before, and then you don’t, it is not the display settings, as someone will link a YouTube video on display settings as the answer, when it isn’t.
If 2D is all good, the next stage is to try VR and if that is worse, then it will generally be the VR launcher.
I can’t work out why performance just turns bad, but usually something updates somewhere, but my router I use for the Quest 2 just decided not to work properly and needed driver updates, which was part of numerous problems as the internet was dropping out and my Quest connected to my Wifi router.
What fixed it for me last time was a reinstall, which Steam did for me when I did an integrity check of the files. I emptied the community folder before, as I suspect that during an update anything in there can just wreck everything.
Good luck.
It’s a good idea the empty my community folder and restart everything and try again.
This happened to me previously about 6 weeks ago and things magically got back to normal.
To me that kind of points to a server bottleneck somewhere especially on this busy Memorial Day weekend.
I think I’ll empty my community folder, do a restart, and log on to one of the Eastern European servers, which should be less busy right now.
I’m lucky in that I fly a helicopter in just one small area, so I can stay offline for the data and avoid server issues.
I didn’t know you could log into different servers, I saw this in a comment:
Switching servers only affects which other human-controlled planes you see in multiplayer mode. It has no effect on Live Weather, AI traffic, or other live services.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
