I don’t have everything downloaded like I used to. These days I’ve only got the base simulator content installed, along with the aircraft and add-ons I’ve bought.
Everything else is streamed in, including all the World Updates (1–16), so they aren’t permanently stored on my PC anymore.
As for size, my local installation is roughly 100–150 GB depending on what aircraft and add-ons I have installed. If I downloaded every World Update and optional package instead of streaming them, it would probably be well over 300 GB in total.
I have been considering the upgrade to MSFS 2024, but being in a Third-world’s third-rate country, the best bandwidth I get is 50 Mbps. That’s what’s advertised. In actuality, it must be much lower.
I have a a top-tier flagship computer but a slow bandwidth would make it hard to stream data every time.
To top it off, the visuals and reports I have seen of MSFS 2024 are not as promising as advertised.
Hence…
Streaming only. Tried downloading when the option first became available. Didn’t see an advantage to downloading, have been streaming everything ever since.
