Most of the Medivac missions are 4+ hours of flying and I don’t have the time to complete the mission in real time.
Just wondering how others manage to complete these missions as if I accelerate time the sim usually becomes unstable and crashes, there doesnt appear to be any option to skip to landing (as in other missions) and I cannoot find any way to save the game mid mission.
If you have any tips how to compete these long missions, please do let me know. Thank you!
Using SimRate 2x or 4x should definitely not lead to an unstable experience. But it slightly depends on your aircraft if it is stable or starts to oscilate. The C208B is not good at simrates, but the PC24 for instance can be easily flown in 4x.
Besides that, if you can jump to descent, then you maybe have not reached the proper cruise flight level. You might have get a different altitude assigned then filed.
I personally find it to high of a risk to “jump” to descent, because very often, my aircraft did just crash.
So I stick with SimRate and fly often in 8x in the PC24 or PC12.
Cheers
Thanks for the reply.
I just wish that the devs could implement a save game function so you could fully complete a long flight in smaller sessions. I love playing flight simulator and have full respect for all the great work done by the devs, but it seems amazing that such a basic functionality has not been considered.
Just be aware the Time Enroute estimate on the Career Mission Map ranges from inaccurate to wildly pessimistic.
Really the best choice is to plan the mission OUTSIDE of the sim using an EFB like Little Nav Map or Navigraph. You still use the same Origin-Destination Pair, but you can load a flight plan with a more direct route AND better selection of Departures/Arrivals.
I strongly recommend everyone do this because the EFB routing choices at times range from Meh to “What the heck, why this STAR, it’s not even the best choice for routing direction or aircraft capability?”
That may improve IF proper Performance files can be supplied to the EFB, but I wouldn’t hold your breath on that - you’re losing game time.
To me, I’ll override the plan to get a more direct route (less airways, more point to point) and eschew a STAR if needed. Not every aircraft has the performance to get the benefits out of a SID or STAR.
Import the plan into the EFB, double-check the cruise altitude. Done.
Just to follow up on this post, Thank you @Jaydee6281 you are perfectly correct, the reason I could not skip to the landing was because I had not reached the correct cruise altitude.
So this actually solves my issue, I just get to the correct cruis altitude and then skip the bulk of the fight, thereby allowing me to complete the mission in a reasonable timeframe.
