How can I find the best value for Rolling Cache?

I have a computer with 16 gb ram, what other factors affect rolling cache? What range will give me the best performance?

Like so many other things, who knows?
AFAIK, we’ve gotten no guidance from Microsobo on this.

The Rolling Cache uses disk space. I have my cache set to 100GB on my fastest SSD. Some use a RAMdrive. Some have theirs set to use more, some less.

It’s a carp shoot at this point.

I currently have 100 GB of free space on my SSD, and the rolling cache is set to 30 GB. I heard somewhere that if it is increased too much, it can decrease performance.

I’ve heard that as well. But I haven’t seen any single-variable tests of that theory. I’m not having any performance problems with the sim right now, so maybe I’ll do one today.

Idealy it would depend on your internet speed… fast internet 16-32gb, slow internet 32-64gb, but since fast internet still bottlenecks on slow Asobo servers, it doesn’t really make a whole lot of difference. Probably the more photogrammetry you are trying to load (big cities) the more cache you want.

If you tend to fly in the same areas and your internet speed isn’t all that good then the rolling cache can help. I have mine set at 16GB as I tend to go different places most of the time and I have a good internet. Obviously it depends on how much space space you’ve got but I don’t believe much more than that is particularly beneficial.

Rolling Cache off works best for me—by far.
