I don’t know if this is even possible.
I was in the middle of a group flight yesterday, and I nosed down my taildragger on the grass field. ‘Restart’ would have taken me back to the beginning of the flight plan, and I’d have to takeoff and run the sim at 8X to have a chance of catching up with the group. Not ideal…
I know the right answer is, “Don’t crash your plane in the middle of a group flight.”
But is there a way to ‘respawn’ at the current location?
I could edit the flight plan and reload it with a departure at the crash site, but that would be a lot of work.
I’m a noob so forgive me if I have this wrong, but I think if you press the ‘backtick’ key (like a reverse apostrophe - normally found just below Esc on a UK keyboard) the sim will flip you back into the air at the current location (even if you’re upside down - it’ll put you right way up).
I’m not sure what happens if your plane is damaged though.

Thanks! I’ll try that. Is this the key?

A US keyboard equivalent would be this:

Now that is good to know. I learn something new here every day.

If you crash and dont get the black screen, you’ll be able to get back in the air by using the “back to fly” option in the control options menu. If you did encounter the black “you crashed” screen, then your only option is to restart or back to main menu. You could also hit “Y” and “slew” your way back to your m8’s. Or just go back to the map and spawn on one of the flyers from the group, then slew back or 2x towards them.
further more, if you damage your aircraft, you are able to go into the controls menu searching for “Repair and Refuel”, that came in handy with bush flights
hope it helps…

Assuming you have damage turned off, the easiest way is to enter slew mode (Shift-Y) and exit it with the same keybind. As long as you are stationary, this will set you back on the wheels.
I have had many landing mishaps so this is what I do and pretend it never happened.

You could also use the teleport function, if you wanted to get back in the air quickly:

Yeah, I use slew/teleport often after crashes. If you slew and then unslew (use keyboard keys) you will be upright on the ground where you crashed. Often after a crash I will slew up before unslewing so I can keep flying. I have keys set up for slew on, slew up and down, slew forward and back, slew left and right, and slew off. Not only for crashes, but also handy when making videos, getting somewhere fast, catching up with live flights your following, etc. Cheers.

Or… For ‘realism’ you could catch a virtual taxi to the nearest NEXT airfield on the flight plan where a shiny new plane is waiting for you take off and rejoin the group!
Developer mode is your friend also…
