Since that photo is from Asobo Studio/XBox Game Studios, I would like to use that Trans Maldivian yellow livery on the Asobo Twin Otter. But when I go to the Asobo Twin Otter float livery section in MSFS 2024, that livery isn’t even available. Where can this yellow Trans Maldivian livery be found?
PS. Why are there so few liveries for the Asobo Twin Otter at flightsim.to? I thought the standard planes in MSFS 2024 are all decrypted now?
The article is from September 2024 so the image in the article most likely shows the Twin Otter livery from “Aerosoft” rather than the one from Microsobo.
Alternatively, they could have just used an image from an early developer, alpha, RC candidate version of MSFS 2024.
Hopefully, they will add it as a free livery for the MSFS 2024 version in the future.
Twin Otter has disappeared from the Aerosoft store and it’s also no longer available for purchase on platforms like Simmarket.
If I’m not mistaken, Aerosoft was supposed to sell Twin Otter to Microsobo, right?
Thanks for the information. I have the Twin Otter from Aerosoft. I bought it in the MSFS Marketplace. And the Aerosoft Twin Otter has almost all the liveries you would want to download for it at flightsim.to. But unfortunately, I can’t access the Twin Otter in MSFS 2024. The MSFS Marketplace is not open yet in MSFS 2024. And when it opens, I don’t even know if I will be able to access the Aerosoft Twin Otter.
If I could use the Aerosoft Twin Otter in MSFS 2024, that would be awesome, because I could also use all the liveries that were made for it at flightsim.to.
In MSFS 2020 Marketplace, you also can’t purchase Aerosoft Twin Otter so it’s possible that they indeed sold it to Microsobo. So we may just have to patiently wait for more free liveries in the future.
If the Asobo Twin Otter is very close to the Aerosoft Twin Otter, maybe somebody that is knowledgeable can explain how we can port the Aerosoft Twin Otter liveries from flightsim.to to the Asobo Twin Otter.
Darn, it didn’t work for me. I moved it over to the Community folder in MSFS 2024 but it didn’t work. I have the marketplace version of the Aerosoft Twin Otter.
You must have purchased the Aerosoft Twin Otter outside of the MSFS Marketplace, right?
BTW, please don’t take my wild guess about Aerosoft selling Microsobo Twin Otter seriously – it’s just me peeking into my crystal ball, which might be a bit blurry
The button is always “Disable,” even with the checkbox selected. I also restarted MSFS 2024 to see if I could fix it, but a restart didn’t fix it either.
You must have purchased the Aerosoft Twin Otter outside the MSFS marketplace and that’s why it works in the Community folder. I believe the marketplace version of the Aerosoft Twin Otter is encrypted, to prevent pirating (my understanding is, all marketplace products are encrypted to prevent pirating). The encryption would explain why it doesn’t work in the MSFS 2024 Community folder.
I am not knowledgeable in this, but what I’ve read many times here is that Asobo is encrypting the files in their library aircraft that allow livery mods.
Thus, it will be difficult (if not impossible) for 3rd Party creators to give us the panoply of beautiful liveries we used to enjoy.
In short, if Asobo doesn’t offer a livery, we won’t get it.
(I hope someone more knowledgeable than me can tell me I’m 100% wrong…)
It’s the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe versions that are still encrypted. However, the Twin Otter is a Standard version plane, so it should have been unencrypted back in December.
And there are already some liveries for the Asobo Twin Otter at flightsim.to. Unfortuantely, nobody has made a Trans Maldivian livery for the float version of the Asobo Twin Otter yet at flightsim.to.
Unfortunately, it still doesn’t work. I get the same thing as the photo I posted with it being greyed out and the button is still showing “Disable.” It’s probably encrypted or something else is incompatible with MSFS 2024.
It makes sense if it doesn’t work though. It’s probably to prevent piracy.
Doesn’t work. Technically, they are separate planes (the names are even different for Aerosoft Twin Otter and the Asobo Twin Otter in Content Manager). Disabling the Asobo version doesn’t make a difference.
