Mine is 165Hz, G-sync compatible and I use the limiter at 162, that is widely suggested to limit 3 FPS below the maximal Hz number of the monitor for G-Sync compatible monitors.
But as I said, the limit is not the important thing here, the load on the GPU is. But with a 60 FPS limit, you will never use your 4090 above 90%, especially not when using DLSS along with it…
It is just a suggestion, as in many cases in the flightsim world, it might work for your system or it might not. Sometimes it takes ages to find the matching setup for your rig, sometimes it never really works out.

I’m on a 60Hz display not G-SYNC compatible, thus my testing being at a lower max frame rate. In observing CPU and GPU usage over the past few days with various FPS settings, typically the CPU is 3%-5% and the GPU is 50%-80%.
I gave your a suggestion a try. At about the 1 hour 45-50 minute mark the stutters where there as well. Perhaps because of running the Max Frame Rate above the 60Hz range of my display. Thanks though.

Thanks everyone for your input. It increased my understanding of how frame rates can be set and remain close to that target and also the impact of popped out panels.
While this information was useful in my testing I was still unable to track down the stuttering problem while running multiple tests over 20+ hours. In all tested setting configurations I still have stuttering beginning between 90 and 120 minutes. The stuttering quickly escalates to a regular stutter every 3-5 seconds. The only way to temporarily eliminate them is to land at a nearby airport, quit and restart just the sim. I then resume the flight plan from that location, the stutters are gone for another 90-120 minutes. At which time I must repeat that process.
Hey there, @KlaatuBarada634. I have not seen this mentioned yet in the thread, but it is well known that having “Rolling Cache” enabled in Settings can contribute to stutters, and sometime quite dramatic stutters. If you already have that setting disabled, then ignore my post. If not, it is at least worth a look. My stutters completely disappeared after disabling Rolling Cache and deleting the cache file. HTH

I don’t believe your monitor was ever running above it’s rated 60Hz. Those extra frames were most likely dropped.
As several people have mentioned above, since you’ve got a very power GPU with the 4090, you’ve got to “feed the beast” so to speak. I’ve got a RX 7900 XTX and while not a Nvidia gpu or as powerful as a 4090 the same theory applies. My sim runs best at my monitors max refresh rate of 120Hz.
If disabling the rolling cache as @Sartanius mentioned above doesn’t work, I’d recommend trying a monitor with a higher refresh rate. Perhaps your TV supports greater than 60Hz that you could try the sim with?
If you only get stutters after a long period of time, then this i most likely a memory leak. I doubt that you can do something about it with your fps settings. But most likely they will fix some of them with the today releasing SU13. So your problem might get solved then.
Rolling cache has been off from the beginning. Thanks.

I agree with your opinion on a memory leak. On todays Dev stream Seb discussed fixes they made to leaks with SU13. He also said it’s an ongoing mission and that more exist,
I hope the best for all people that have these issues.
Regarding your FPS lock problems - don´t only limit the fps for active windows but also for background processes and use 50% of the other fps limit. Cause if you tab out of the sim, two things happen that you need to consider:
- FPS Limit doesn´t apply anymore if you havent set one for background processes
- the Framegenerating gets disabled and the cpu starts to work more if you dont limit it to 50% of the wanted fps.
Only this way you have a constant CPU load of your SIM for testing purposes, if you switch between some windows and processes.

What utility are you using to generate that view?
nVIDIA Control Panel? Just in German…
Hi, this is the NVIDA Driver Control Panel (german language) nothing more. You can access it by context menu with right click on the desktop for instance.
Hi,
Does your monitors offer an option of setting the refresh rate to 60? If so, have you tried that. Limiting the resolution to 60Hz should limit your frame rates to 60fps.
It’s a 60hz display, not any faster.
