How do I disable default Menu UI mappings on my joystick?

My T16000M is getting some default UI control functions after update 5. Is there an option to turn it off? (I’ve already switched the interaction to Legacy…) For example joy button 2 acts as a “back” button in the menu. And the POV hat hides the mouse cursor and highlights the UI elements for selection. And there’s nowhere to change/disable these mappings. I’d like to switch them off so that when I move my POV hat my mouse cursor doesn’t disappear and get reset to the corner of the screen.

I’ve been trying to find a way to disable joystick mappings in the menu with no luck. I have the TM A320 officer pack and the POV switch is broken, in the neutral position the switch for some reason is locked in the left position, which now disables mouse control in the menu!!! Very frustrating!!!

Yep I feel you. I got all sorts of weird button bindings with my T16000M in the menu as well, and weirdly when I go into ESC during a flight, the ‘‘resume’’ button doesn’t have a binding at all suddenly. I have to click it with the mouse to resume. It was just ESC before.

Okay, so I’ve managed to edit my control binding manually and resolved this issue. If you open up your saved control profiles with a text editor, you can delete the menu mappings for the POV hat. Just make sure to make a back up of the file. Now it’s working exactly like how I want it.

I’ve figured it out. So go to the directory where your control profiles are saved, and edit the saved profile manually with a text editor. It’s all xml so it’s pretty self explanatory. Removed the section … . Be sure to back it up before you change it.

That worked for me and it’s now back to exactly how I want it.

Where do you find the UI .XML

I assume this locations are meant:

EDIT: and a additional note.. the default profiles are located within the steam lib folder ( …\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator\Input ) . Just for the case you need a reference or backup.

Any idea for Store version?

may be somewhere in:
\appdata\local\packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\systemappdata

But I heard, the format of the files differs for Steam vs MS-Store. So not sure.

Thank you - I found it in the linked thread actually here:
https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/joystick-profile-location-steam/362631/7?u=gordongreig

EDIT - it is in that folder, but buried in some complicated folder structure

ah… LOL.. we also spoke in the same old thread about MS-Store.. was long ago

you changed the “curves” ( sensitifity, etc. ) of a controller ?.. then should a “file” exist.

So I found I could open the files inside the sub folders with notepad, e.g.

Is this:

I have a profile for my yoke for the CRJ, and this looks like it

I assume I could edit that? Not tried it though

This might be the solution to the lack of keyboard key mappings for zooming on the world map too, if I can find the keyboard default profile

EDIT - but obviously not all of them!

note: don’t use notepad  … use a “real” editor like notepad++

Are you sure that these is “your” setting or the default for these device ?
You can , as example, double check with changing your e.g. curves and then date-time of these file should be changed.

Yes agreed re notepad++, was just checking I could open them quickly.

These look like mine becvause the “friendly name” is the name I’ve given in the profile manager in the sim

ok.. then these settings should also not overwritten with next update and we find for both ( Steam and MS-Store ) the folders  ( adding next bookmark )

Anyone please post the address for MS Store version as I can’t find the location.

See below. There seems to be a file in each folder with a profile. Not had time for a close look yet though

Found it thanks.
