I hope as long as it takes to fix the issues and a final patch can be released.

But from what I read into the announcement, they want to push it before the holidays…

I don’t believe there will ever be a final patch

As long as it takes, if the patch is released with the current (new) VR Bug then I’ll go ballistic quite frankly!

I don’t believe the sim HAS any ICBM’s simulated yet

Well if the business plans holds up lets hope we see the last bug stamped by 2029.

I can speculate – after last night’s update to the beta, people’s CTD issues don’t seem to be solved. (Mine are, but it seems like a huge YMMV situation). Wouldn’t be surprised if the hotfix is still in beta for another week.

Final patch = meaning of life

Hopefully, the MS Devs will work out all of the “glitches” that have plagued the sim since release and I am talking about missing bridge spans, failing/non-workable Nav and FM systems .
…
They have been enlisting outside assistance since MSFS was released and that outside assistance pointed out most of the failures. One would hope they will, finally, concentrate on fixing those failures in the CORE Program and let that $$$Marketplace$$$ cow slide for a bit.

Yes, Asobo is going to be off the end of December. Regardless what people may think, they have pushed really hard all year long, and had to forego vacations in the summer, etc. They need their time off. So they are looking to resolve the big items, the ones that are most disruptive, to get MSFS in the most solid state for the holidays, so customers can enjoy the holidays and the Asobo folks can enjoy their time off. So yes, this hotfix will go out before the holidays.

One rather interesting thing though is, while Asobo is off for the holidays, I wonder how 3rd party updates are going to be handled. There are still developers having to make and submit changes due to SU7 breaking their mod. With no one to process those during the holidays, I wonder how that is going to work (Maybe they have already planned that and Microsoft employees in Seattle will be doing testing, DRM management, and then placing into the marketplace while Asobo is off.)

Well, who really knows? None of us forum members for sure. Only MS and the Devs are in the work schedule loop. The MS Devs may have some holiday time off as dictated by MS and some Devs may choose to work through most of the holidays. Management is the only one that knows for sure.

Possibly. The one person who did the marketplace updates (before they hired 4 more) did take off two weeks of vacation in the summer. And the 4 are only a little over a month in the company. So maybe the marketplace team will still be working through the holidays.

I’m sure there is some sort of plan, seeing as how developers like Carenado still have to get updates out in order to make their addons functional again.

first of all, Marketplace is handled by Microsoft and not Asobo.
And like every big company in the world, Microsoft is of course staffed 24/7.
Probably not the team that takes care of the Marketplace, but still there will be enough ppl at work during holidays.

And actual holidyas are just 3 days and overlapping with a weekend.
So for anything critival, there will be someone left to take care of it.

Just general work is slowed down and we will probably not hear or see much from them.
But of course it is also important to them, that we have the update so when we are all home during holiday season, can enjjoy the sim and dont have to wait 2 more weeks for any fix that will then be ready just when it is time to go back to work…

You seem to have intimate knowledge of internal goings on. Are you one of the devs?

I’m personally okay with them taking as much time as they need to get things in proper working order. This is the first time a beta has been conducted like this and I’m hoping it produces some positive results.

It’s been in beta testing since last August.

No. I just read all the forums, watch the YouTube streams, the interviews, the Q&A sessions. Jorge was quite clear in the one session, Asobo is getting off end of December, no ifs ands or buts. They have pushed really hard all year long, and they need time off or risk burn out.

As for me, I’m a senior programmer and project and technical lead for a retail chain. We have holiday freezes. Last thing you want to do is adversely effect the corporation and slow down a store during its busiest time. So with that comes the determination “this one can cause critical issues”, “this one has a work around”, “this one isn’t ideal but the users can live with it”, “this one has to go in for state compliance” type evaluation of what will go into the final builds before the holiday freeze.

Any bug that effects a user, they are very invested in. I’m just trying to level set expectations so that the forums know what to expect and why. Otherwise sentiment builds up and becomes an avalance.
