I believe many CTD’s can be avoided if simmers follow some pretty basic rules regarding upkeep of their data systems.
As I’m sure everyone knows by now, using a NTFS file system is essential and that applies to both sim it’s packages folders AND all 3rd party installs.
Secondly the sim is using sequential data so your drives need to be looked after better than for most programs, that means regular optimisation (TRIM) for SSDs or defragging for HDDs. Also they should not be filled to the brim because after about 80% Windows starts looking for solutions usuing virtual memory which is always much slower.
Regardless of how much ram or storage space is available Windows virtual memory must not be disabled and preferably it should be system controlled. Lastly, as a rule the faster the drives MSFS and especially any scenery packages are installed on then the less pauses and stutters you are likely to suffer.
