How many people have FS2024 but still choose FS2020?

That’s possible, but for me it’s a flight sim and lots of parts that came with MSFS2024 are not interesting for me. I want to plan flights and fly.

The improved electrical, fuel, hydraulic, ect simulation doesn’t interest you?

Whether you are flying 2020, 2024, X-Plane, etc., they are all fun and awesone. Some people want the latest and greatest while others are more than content with whatever version and platform that they have. Courses for horses.

Like many of you, I’ve been flying FS since its beginning on a Commodore 64 portable and IBM green screens, so with all of the upgrades and versions over years, each one was a huge advance and was pretty much bug free. Once we got to FSX it stalled, but that’s what I still flew all of those years. I didn’t bite on the online version, but just prior to 2024 release, I stepped up to 2020. This was such a huge leap in so many ways that after a few years now with msfs2020, I’m still very comfortable with it, and over the past couple of years reading forums, don’t need the seemingly critical problems folks write about. I’m content … with over a decade on FSX, I’ll be content for a while as 2024 removes its quirks over time. However, I do thank all who have tried it and are breaking it in!

Amen! but… the ‘improvements’ thru updates to MS20 were OK until the last one. Totally wrecked the sim…

I hope that developers will keep updating msfs2020 for as long as possible!

I still have not found the reason to migrate.

Flying my pmdg b738 across the European region, only to addon sceneries, with my BATC, FS2crew animated SOP1, Cabby, using my hardware, is a totally satisfying experience in msfs2020 (dx11, TAA, 566.36 driver).

I cannot imagine having to spend time (and not flying) watching tutorials in YouTube for how to configure my keyboard/ yoke/ rudder settings, and having to experiment with so many possible combinations (drivers, dlss versions, enablers multi frame generations etc)… what a nightmare, at least for me…

Microsoft will certainly release a MSFS2028 that will finally be a significant upgrade to MSFS2020.

It is not necessary to anticipate MSFS2028, because 2024 is probably still in development at that time. So I think MSFS2024 will remain the standard for many years to come, even after 2028. :wink:

After 737 pmdg fs24 manual read, I have to say- really not much have been added in terms of systems fidelity (eyecanding not important to me).

What are some systems fidelity things you feel the aircraft is lacking presently?

There are quite a number of significant improvements in MSFS 2024 which aren’t related to “eye candy”. Systems fidelity wise much has been improved which third-party developers can take advantage of.

cmon… I would call it a decent update if if had been applied to fs20 version :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

The PMDG 737 was already of a very high standard. You can’t really add a whole lot of extra system fidelity when everything is already simulated. I was sceptical of the upgrade, especially given that coffee must be very expensive where they live, but I’ve got to say it feels like a whole new aircraft. It always was a bit of step above everything else out there but now it truly feels absolutely fantastic to fly. Before I could quite happily take it or leave it. But now I can’t fly anything else (except the 777-300ER of course)

This has, more or less, been my concern with 2024-native PMDG products as well. They haven’t delivered anything in 2024 (that most average users interact with/appreciate) that couldn’t have been delivered in 2020. Yes, I fully understand that there are major backend changes with the new attachments system and other 2024-specific SDK changes that have been made which do enhance and improve the user experience, but this is akin to my car getting a new fuel injector when what I wanted was a new infotainment system. I also know Mathijs, Dr. Venkman, and the usual PMDG crew will come here and say “PMDG users don’t want these features/they’re too gamey” (whatever that means when we’re, by definition, playing a game) but that does not speak for everyone.

Without the ability to send flight plans to the avionics with the EFB, load and unload visible and dynamic passengers and cargo, utilize the aircraft in Career mode, interact with parts of the aircraft during walkaround mode (see Fenix for how this is done realistically), and access the PMDG EFB as an app on the Asobo EFB, this just feels like a “plussed up” 2020 aircraft and not something unique or special in 2024.

But alas, this is not a thread for discussing PMDG products specifically - there are plenty of those. :sweat_smile:

I don’t understand why you’re trying to undermine the point I’m making when I’m refuting your claim with a fact vs your opinion (a faulty one). I have absolutely nothing against people that choose to use MSFS 2020 over MSFS 2024 (why should I?) but people seem to try and make it sound like a fact that MSFS 2024 isn’t that much of an improvement over MSFS 2020 when in reality that’s not true. As I have aforementioned in another post there have been significant improvements.

I think there might be some miscommunication here as I believe Maxuss is specifically referring to PMDG’s 2024-native updates to their 2020 products, not necessarily the entire sim itself.

I have 2024 but have not used it since January. Back on 2020, as I’m too frustrated when using the, so called, modern version of the sim. Mainly due to bugs with particular aircraft (A400M, ATR and King Air), but also the loss of my favourite - the 2020 (Aerosoft) varieties of the Twin Otter. I’ll keep my eye on posts in the forums before I go back to 2024 - if at all, by current opinions, and lack of updates via development streams.
