I activated the option that lets me see other players’ aircrafts in the sim. It’s very funny to see them make their turns over greens and signs just like me. But obviously they don’t see me. Today someone drove right through me. He disappeared like a ghost before he could hit me and then reappeared on the other side of my airplane.
Would be nice if they could see me too. But I think there is no switch that I can click on to make myself visible. They have to turn on the same option in their sim as I did.
I had a funny moment yesterday. So I departed from EGGP, flying with my Cessna 172 in VR, and I heard some rumbling. Thunderstorm? No way. The weather is harsh but not stormy… I looked to my right, and I saw A320 flying like 50 meters ahead of me with 90 degrees bank and a collision course with me… I guess he/she tried to make a collision with me.
It’s amusing that you think by them seeing you, that would stop them taxiing straight through you. . This is multiplayer.
I caught these four trying to beat eachother to the gates earlier today in Innsbruck. Safe to say, I’ll be sticking to offline AI for VFR, and VATSIM for IFR
You’re right. I’m used to that anyway. When I drive home from work on my bike, I often feel invisible. If I didn’t ring my bell or step on the brakes, people would permanently cross my way. Although, they wouldn’t disappear before coming too close like in the sim, but run right into me.
(1) Increasing the size of MP GROUPS from the current 6, to more like 255 (nice number!!)
(2) Adding the Option for a sizable IGNORE List (to pair the Friends list)
(ideally stored in a user editable .cfg file, that can edit manually, as well as some way to add/delete a specified name from within the Sim (when flying or when Paused with ESC)
They see you just as well as you see them. Since MP in this game is nothing but visually seeing other players and there’s zero interaction possible, many just ignore the other players and do their own thing.
Really outside of small private group flights and community events, MP is kind of pointless in MSFS as it currently exists. I find it more of an annoyance than anything else, so I just turn it off unless I’m specifically joining in for MP.
That said, its always nice when you see another player, and they hold for you to land, or to pass by them on a taxiway. There are some good eggs out there.
I find this to be generally true when you encounter folks at smaller airports. My experience at the main hubs / hotspots doesn’t quite reflect this. It’s typically people barnstorming over airports, intentionally trying to collide with plane on approach, and just being general nuisances. That combined with planes spawning on runways as you’re approaching, etc, is why I turn MP off when I’m just flying around doing my own thing.
If you own the plane, ensure that you’re NOT using Generic plane models for multiplayer, and you should see the Spitfire model others are flying.
I simply cant see the name of the airplane. Like I see B78X, but nothing else that isnt standard. I can see the model of CRJ but I can’t see the name of the plane with the player nameplates.
Not all 3rd party plane devs have included that data in their config files. For example, Carenado, despite their incredible attention to visual detail, omit all the plane data from their config files. Nowhere does the sim know what kind of plane you’re flying. It does show the correct model if someone else is flying that plane, but there’s no info in the tag on what type of plane it is. You just see the player’s name and nothing else.
I don’t own the Spitfire, so I can’t say for sure this is the case for it. Perhaps someone who does can confirm it.
I did the same. Waiting for someone who just spawned on the runway to take off after ATC cleared me for takeoff is painful at times. I generally just ignored MP planes and did my own thing. Eventually, I got tired of that immersion breaking “feature” and just disabled multiplayer.
If you have been parked for more than X minutes the gate is freed for others to use
ATC should consider Live traffic as they do with you, you may not hear them but you see them interacting with the ATC and coordinating the airport
Good aditional options:
5) Crash should be an option, but can be abused so it needs more thinking or giving you a live penalty if you crash with other planes.
6) Fleet, it should be good to have your fleet, customize your registration and track location, wear and tear, positioning and even failures in the future.
