So I’m currently planning a flight from PHOG (Kahului) to KPDX (Portland, OR) using the world map feature in the sim. I keep getting a few annoying, “double” waypoints that can’t be removed and are basically stuck there. Even one waypoint “ADOPE” shows up 4 times by default. If you click remove, it still shows up 2 times.
Usually, my workaround for this issue is just to select “direct” and avoid using any SID or STAR and manually enter the waypoints. However, even when I try that method for departing Kahului, it keeps giving me these waypoints that I can’t remove and that km stuck with, which ultimately makes my route messed up.
Is there any workaround other than the one I already mentioned above. This must be some sort of bug that still exists in the sim. Even though I only encounter this issue at certain airports, it’s quite annoying and this is the only ones I’ve encountered yet where I can’t remove any waypoints.
Personal comments: the inaccurate routing and “phantom USR waypoints” have been long present in the flight planning and routing logic.
Presumably this is one of the many items to be addressed by Sim Updates 4 through 6 as noted on the Feedback Snapshot.
How to mitigate (but not fully); use an external tool like an EFB and import your plan. I use Little Nav Map, many people like Simbrief. Secondly, get better NavData. NavBlue has many shortcomings. An annual Navigraph data only subscription gets me very accurate data on current AIRAC. Between that and LNM, I have complete graphical views of all SID/STAR and approaches, as well as good routing across airways.
For the most part, about 8/10 plans cleanly import into the sim using this method, meaning no massive curves, no insertion of Phantom Waypoints etc.
Departures are usually straightforward and WYSIWYG. Approaches, well, approaches are what make life interesting in this sim, and that’s before you even get to the Initial Fix.
You can edit the flight plan by hand if you save it first, and then remove any waypoints you don’t want from it. I’m assuming if there are duplicates, you would see them more than once in the saved file. You can see how I do it for custom waypoints, but in theory it should be the same for any waypoints, I haven’t tested it though.
