Hi there, i am trying to test can i disable E330 cockpit windows? Just a courioisity and maeby for use. I am flying VR so all the scratches little annoying me… and the sun reflections.
I was digging E330 texture files, but nothing did indicate to that window.
You can find the right texture folder if you check the texture.cfg file. It probably uses some generic texture path
fallback.3=…\texture\DetailMap
fallback.4=…\texture\Glass
So the glasss texture is either in DetailMap or the Glass folder. It might be the CANOPY_SCRATCHES_COMP.TIF.DDS Texture in the DetailMap folder. Just try to change the Canopy_Scratches_comp.tif texture and replace the .dds file (make a backup of course )
Yes i think the glass is devided into two objects, the outside glass (which should be in the glass folder) and the glass viewed from the cockpit (inside).
So the outside scratches are in the red channel of the GLASS_DetailMap01_mask.png file. You just need to paint the red channel black.
The green channel is for the icing effect as far as I remember and the blue channel is the finger prints.
When i delete line
fallback.4=…\texture\Glass
from texture.cfg, whole glass window transforms in sim to kind a rainbow poster. So correct .dds file has to be in that xxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam\fs-base\texture\GLASS folder, but i allready edited all of those there to be transparent and still glass is showing.
I did find lots of potential ALBD_dds files inside fs-base folders. But none of those was the right one.
This was potential one:
fs-base\texture\cockpit_WINDSHIELD_albd.png But i didnt find .dds file with that name. Weird. Did try even make cockpit_WINDSHIELD_albd.png.dds file, but didnt work.
Then maybe instead of using a texture for the transparency they changed the transparency within the shader itself and just changed the alpha values there.
When importing the plane to blender the alpha value is 0.01 in Blender, unfortunantely I cant see what textures are attached in Blender. But I think they just drive the glass transparency with the A value.
So its not just the scratches you try to remove , but also the reflections?
Just checked the DA62 sample plane from the SDK also doesnt use any texture for the windshield.
hmm then I would try to remove the scratches from the COMP textures and maybe even make the Canopy_Scratches_albd.png texture transparent in the DETAILMAP folder.
