I dont understand model matching in msfs. If we fly a group we need to have the same plane for it to be right. If we use different models they fall back to be a PA-28. Are we doing something wrong?
everyone needs to own or have downloaded the same plane. Say for example you have the C310 but nobody else does, they will see the model for the closest matching plane. Sometimes not (like a330 for a cessna for ex) but that’s a sim issue you can’t do much about.
In the settings, under “Traffic” make sure “Use generic model” is turned Off for both Multiplayer and AI Traffic
The exact plane AND livery must be downloaded by all users
just to elaborate slightly: Even if you’re not all flying the same plane, you all need to have each others plane downloaded/owned before you will see the matched model.
So if your buddy wants to fly his Payware Piper or whatever, you’ll need to purchase it as well in order to see it accurately
I have noticed times where a friend is flying the FA18 or a B787 and I am also flying the same plane and see the other plane as a single engine piper or something similar.
We both have the MSFS Deluxe Version and neither of us have any additional aircraft downloads.
I see myself as a FA18 and he sees me as a little prop job… We both have an empty community folder.
…
I suppose we have something set incorrectly ? Surely this cannot be this hard to render the correct planes since we both have exactly the same stock aircraft and are running the same version of MSFS.
What in the world have we set incorrectly.
You actually need to have the same plane AND livery for it to show correctly in yours.
In multiplayer groups, always use a base livery that comes with a aircraft.
If you do not then it will select the Bonanza (for any piston aircraft), pointy nose A330 (for any jet), and that’s all the AI models I can recall seeing.
Certainly a failing of the sim, that it won’t fallback to a standard livery if you don’t have that, but have a model installed.
If developers could add a streamable low-LOD model that could be streamed to all players within say 50nm, then at least everyone could see the correct model.
Could do with them looking at how the Forza series handles livery and applying something similar. If not then revert to a standard plain livery
It’s one of the most annoying and immersion breaking issues for me seeing the wrong plane.
