How to make user waypoints in the G1000? Or is it not possible?

A saw some old posts saying this is not possible but wondering if it is now and I just can’t find it?

I understand that if I make a flight plan in the World Map before entering the game it will create custom waypoints in the GPS system, but from what I can see there is no way for me to PERMANENTLY add user waypoints to the sim.

Am I missing something? Why have they excluded such a basic feature of the GPS units? What operation have you ever worked for who didn’t have their own custom GPS waypoints!?

If not possible with the vanilla game, is there an addon / plugin that can add this functionality?

No, that’s the way it is.

I suggest doing the route planning with LittleNavMap, then export the plan and load it into MSFS.

I tried this and LittleNavMap custom waypoints are translated to waypoints that are several thousand miles away once you export your flightplan to MSFS.

LNM user waypoints work fine for me. But the GNS530/430 at least seems to not really like to progress through user waypoints automatically. I have to advance them manually. Not sure about how well the other gps units handle them.
