How to move forward in tutorial #1

I’m having difficulty using the flight tutorials. I’m green and on #1. I’m using Turtle Beach VelocityOne controller and have a keyboard and mouse attached. The tutorial instructs various actions such as “set the correct time on the clock”. The objective windows shows ways of doing this such as an “R” with an arrow each side. Does this mean R on the keyboard and press right and left arrows or is the tutorial supposed to use the mappings in the control device used, applied and saved?
I can’t find a way to skip a step like this and I’ve read on the forum that there isn’t a way to go back to where you had progressed without going through from the beginning. Does anyone know of a beginners tutorial that doesn’t assume you’re familiar with the setup and just want to begin in the sky?
Thanks for any help.

My guess is that < R > refers to the XBox controller’s right thumbstick, refer to this image:

Thank you Flo, that was it. The image will definitely come in useful. I’ve also found that if various axes or joystick buttons are quoted, very often pointing at e.g. throttle, even though I don’t have a joystick the same outcome can be achieved.
Thanks.
