How to save During play?

I was on a long flight using the copilot and the game froze. If I had been able to save the flight in stages then I could have reloaded it at a point before the crash. Anyone know how to do this?

while in flight press ESC , at the bottom you can Save plane state , keep in mind that when you reload, you have to set the autopilot settings, these are not saved..
