I would love to believe that but why not include the option when initiating the design?
Obviously the designers thought it was ‘realistic’ but failed to realise that this ‘feature’ becomes really tedious and does not necessarily represent real life, as far as the removal of covers is concerned anyway.
Fortunately, the aircraft I fly the most in the sim have their own EFB which can remove covers/chocks from the cockpit. IRL, covers are only used on airliners when in storage as the aircraft is in a hanger when not in the air and gets towed out when rostered for duty, any covers being removed and certified by the ground crew/engineers.
My own GA aircraft also goes into a hanger between flights and the walkaround/sequential checks usually done then and just before engine start. There are no covers to remove.
