How to take something bad and make it worse

You may be right about that but especially with FS2020 I think it is their loss.
One of the absolute center pieces in all the promotional material was the visuals. And there has never been a sim before where VFR flying really truly worked for me until this came around.
I agree: there should be something for everyone and I too would like to step into a working airliner again and simply fly the short hop from Nice to Frankfurt.
However: I think VFR flying in a C172 is nothing that you have to learn. If you play something like FS2020 you must have an inkling how an aircraft works without autopilot. So why not just take off in a place you know well in the real world, and follow some roads, valleys or rivers and try to find places you know and like. Or just go somewhere you always wanted to but never could afford or never had the time and have a look around. It’s an experience, maybe even an adventure. And it often doesn’t even matter if you get lost. But maybe that’s just me

Agreed. When you read the weekly communication from the Dev team, it all sounds very encouraging and I don’t doubt their sincerity. I just doubt their ability to fix the flight related things that need fixing.

If you look at the Feedback Snapshot you will see about 40 items listed that are in their plans to deal with (a few already fixed in Patch no. 4). The bugs dealing with visual inaccuracies and glitches outnumber the “flight performance” bugs by about 10 to 1. I feel that is a complete reversal of what the priorities should be if you are working on a Flight Sim, especially one that already is so visually awesome. Sure, improvements in building height, missing landmarks, trains (really? That’s important?) are fine but get the planes, all of them, and the flight/avionic functions working first.

People will say “But those were the most voted upon
”
In the short term, those who use this product strictly to look at scenery will be gone pretty soon. There’s is just not enough “gamer” action to keep them interested. The true flight simmers will be here long-term, assuming the planes they fly work.
Putting GPS/Avionics/Autopilot fixes at Update #9 shows where the priorities (or ability to fix important bugs) are at, in my opinion.
Not knocking the effort but it is disappointing to say the least.
