Hello. Im adjusting the gamma settings in NCP (nvidia control panel), so that the darker areas (as well as black areas) look better in Fs2020. But how to tell whats the correct settings? Its a bummer you only can adjust this generally with NCP and not in game. Such a petty. Something for SU10 ?
Anyway…any way to tell when gamma is correctly adjusted? Should for example the dark areas in woods on a sunny day be black or mid-grey or… ?
When you set up your colors in Nvidia, I use the color bar reference, and bring things up to about the same as each other. Brightness a little low, contrast a little high, and gama just a bit more then brightness but now as high as contrast.
Look at the white grey black bar, and use that to set them.
Then in-game I use the TV / monitor settings to fine tune things the rest of the way.
The problem is that these “correct settings” does not seem to be in line with FS2020. Pictures, video - everyting look good on my screen (LG 27GL83A), exept for in FS2020. I think everyhing looks quite hazy. I hade to lower gamma to around 0.74 in NCP.
Go into usercfg.opt file, scroll down to where it says postprocess effects and do this:
{PostProcess
Enabled 1
EyeAdaptation 0
ColorGrading 0
Sharpen 0
Fringe 0
LensDistortion 0
Dirt 0
LensFlare 0
FilmGrain 0
Vignette 0
LensBlurMultiplier 1.000000
FringeMultiplier 1.000000
}
If you think this helps you, you can get a program called reshade, it will allow you to set 3rd party postprocess effects that will look better.
I just load the default effects in reshade then when in game I use fakehdr to brighten darken things the way I like, and there are a few others that will let you saturate/desaturate color etc…
You can try that if you like,
Well, not necessarily. It depends on your monitor. And gamma is only one of the parameters.
However you can start from here: Display Adjustment
