How would a real pilot fly round Heathrow (VFR)?

I would like to fly my microlight (Tanarg 912) from EGLD to EGTF as realistically as possible (VFR). How would a real (microlight) pilot fly round Heathrow in accordance with the rules? All the airspaces confuse me. Is there a simple solution? Just call ATC (“Hello, here I am!”) and fly straight through?

Well you could route a bit more to the left via White Waltham EGLM under 2500 and there’s nothing Heathrow could do about it.

I think if you tried to go more direct route you would be told by Heathrow to remain outside controlled airspace…….indefinitely

Looking at Denhams procedures, routing to the South, West or East is SVFR only, they really want you arriving and departing via the north & around London CTA.

Thank you very much. I’ll probably just pay White Waltham a visit then.

Just because you are VFR doesn’t mean you cannot transit controlled airspace
these might be useful
