I just received my G2 and what an immersion … when it works correctly.
Indeed, I suffer the sound cuts + sometimes also headphone image cuts for 10 to 20 seconds.
During these cuts MSFS freeze.
I tried the solutions:
mobo HD audio mute (bios)
HP firmware update
sound return mute in the VR headset
In short, nothing solved the problem.
I think this is an MSFS problem because in the WMR portal I can stay for several hours without a problem.
These cuts are random and can happen in 5, 15 or 30 minutes …
If you have found a reliable solution?
Following. I also have G2 woes. Some days I can 30 mins or more of flying in, others like today, I get freezing after 10 seconds of switching to VR mode. I have tried all the USB ports in my PC, added a separate PCI USB card, disabled all sound devices except to my speakers, etc. It’s probably the most frustrating issue I have ever dealt with in over 25 years of simming.
For some reason MSFS does not like the G2. My sons Occulus Rift works fine on my PC with MSFS. My G2 works fine on my sons older computer on his car racing games.
Thank you for your answer.
It is indeed very frustrating.
Tweak constantly to get a random result.
I bought the G2 without a controller only for MSFS, so I don’t know what to do except wait for a possible update.
OK, I seem to have solved the issue. For me it always seemed to be a USB problem, as when it freezes it is accompanied by the USB “bing bong” sound several times. I looked at the latest BIOS update for my motherboard (Asorus B550 Elite AX v2) and it showed a it includes a USB fix. I have installed the new BIOS update ( F13g) and so far my VR is now working. Long may it continue !!
Hello - I’ve had the G2 since January and only recently I have started to experience same issues - first noticed in flight sim but I can also have this issue in just WMR Home Screen - noticed more prevalent when controllers powered up and I’ve tried every trick recommended including disabling everything sound related apart from Realtek USB - put everything on powered hub. HP reckon it’s the cable and sending me another - will report back shortly. Like other poster says - I also have struggled with this and most frustrating issue ever until majority of users have same issue. I got Alienware R11 - definitely moving USB ports makes it better worse and can be 20 mins before issue reoccurs. Controllers off will help a bit.
*** Update - received replacement cable from HP - so far so good - no issues - both controllers powered up and ran for half hour without any issue volume on full - fingers crossed. I could try plugging in my old cable again to prove 100% the cable but you know what !? … I spent way too long already getting to this stage I’m gonna enjoy glitchless VR for a while first.
I too have finally solved the problem.
I plugged into a powered HUB 3.0!
And … it works without sound or screen cuts !!!
I was finally able to do a flight of more than an hour and I can now concentrate on the optimisatin settings.
