HP Reverb G2 or Oculus Quest 2

Hello everybody,

I just can’t decide which vr glasses to buy. hp reverb g2 or oculus quest 2.

my current system: Intel i7 9700, RTX 2060, 32 GB vram, ssd hard drive.

should I buy a better graphics card? only which? rtx 3060, rtx 3060ti, rtx 3070, rtx 3070ti?

is my current system sufficient for the Oculus? if I buy the reverb which graphics card to go with it?

I had almost all VR headset and I suggest you to go to Oculus.
Quality is close to other “better on the paper” glasses but support, drivers and stability is far ahead.

And is cheapest

With 2060 — quest 2
With 3080 and above — G2
As simple as that …
Had a 2080 , could barely push the G2
Upgraded to 3080 , having a blast with the G2

Sold my quest 2 in a heartbeat … my 3 cents

Sorry but I do not agree. Both my Q2 and VP1 work great with my rtx3090 and my old wmr Dell headset is dust now.

Ever wonder why the HP G2 is the only WMR headset in current production?

Hey everyone,
thanks for your answers. I think I’ll take the quest and upgrade to a rtx 3070ti later. the price would still be in the framework and I think with the combination you get good results from the performance. what do you think? oculus and a 3070ti?

Hello everyone, quick update. I’ve had Quest 2 since Friday. I think that was a good choice. With quest 2 and my current system, I have a setting between ultra, high, medium and low. With the settings it looks quite good and it runs very stable except for big cities there my system comes to the limit and the picture distorts a bit but at some point it catches up again and the distortions become less. With the purchase of a new graphics card, I am still waiting for the big performance update, which is coming soon. I hope it really brings as much as the manufacturer promises. Flying in the Flight Simulator with VR glasses is simply impressive and it gives you the feeling of actually sitting in the plane. Everyone should try this out who is on the road a lot in Flight Simulator.

Resolution is KING in fs2020 ( so I can read the gauges) that is why I went Reverb G2. Oh it looks amazing in that other hobby too!

I have both the Quest 2 and the Reverb G2, with a top spec 3090 powered PC.

The Quest 2 is a great headset to start with. I’d upgrade your GPU next before you get another VR headset. With a 3080/3090 you’ll be amazed at how much better you can make the Quest 2 look, it’s another headset upgrade in itself.

The G2 has wonderful clarity and colours. The tracking annoys me, for some reason I get headset tracking drift in MSFS, with my view occasionally moving outside of the plane, or more commonly, I’ll lose a couple inches in height and have to recentre. Have no idea what cause it, the Quest 2 doesn’t have that problem.

Tracking problems with WMR hmds could be caused by poorly lit room conditions. Unfortunately, WMR is prone to this.

It seems to happen in all my lighting conditions, at night with lights on, daytime with sunlight. Could it be because I haven’t set up a guardian where my cockpit is? I was expecting the controller tracking to be patchy but not the headset. Still enjoying it overall though.

I was still off the performance update at the end of the month. Nevertheless, I will probably do a GPU update, which would you recommend a 3070ti or would you prefer a few euros more and get a 3080? I am so happy with the quest that you can use it without a PC.

If oyu can afford the 3080 I’d get that. MSFS is a demanding game so get the best that you can afford.

I’d try the “Clear Environmental Data” setting, I was having the same bug that seemed to resolve it.
