Hype Performance Group & Developer David Amenta - Airbus H135 Helicopter

Why can’t the rest of this Sim update at this pace?

Because the rest of the sim is a lot more complicated than one addon. Also there is an entire professional software team using industry-standard software development techniques, with schedules, tickets, branches, merges, and yes, testing.

copy and paste the following into the windows search and click Enter.

%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community

and then copy the folder with the mod into the above location.

Yes Mark, I was being facetious.
Hence, the smile.

Yes. The instructions are on the download page and are pretty simple:

INSTALL DIRECTIONS

  • Unzip and place the folder into your community folder

Community Folder Default Locations:

For those who purchased the game from Steam Store:

  • C:\Users[Your User Name]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightDashboard_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\

It is more than clear that Microsoft has thrown sim helicopters and the community of fans under the bus.

Why, because they need time to develop the simulator to properly support it? You’re absolutely right. They should have delayed the entire simulator till 2022 or 2023 until it was fully ready. :frowning:

I recommend you boycott the sim until helicopters are fully supported to teach Asobo/Microsoft a lesson.

I never flew helicopters in a sim before and have held out to try this until today. It was A LOT of fun and I will be spending more time with it.

No worries. We’re here to help. I’ve been flying helicopters pretty much exclusively in my sims for the last 15+ years and helping a lot of people along the way.

How in 7 hours in this thread did you go from “We know that in some point in time MSFS2020 may release a helicopter model of its own.” to “It is more than clear that Microsoft has thrown sim helicopters and the community of fans under the bus.”?

MS/Asobo have been clear about their intentions for Helis for quite some time. They are coming next year.

Simple. It’s like kid-of, sort-of, and maybe, is the same as never. When Microsoft dumped its users and sold the title to Dovetail, marked the abandonment of helicopters fans in this title. It would appear that the stepchild status of helicopters fans in this title remains. In the meantime, a team of developers has what is now the only game in town with their release of the H135 for MSFS2020. At least someone has respect for the diehard MSFS helicopter community. I wish that someone was Microsoft. If may-be, possibly, by-chance Microsoft sees fit to release helicopters, I’ll be the first to buy it. Until then, support for what is already out there would be nice.

Microsoft didn’t sell the title to Dovetail. They licensed it. And while they licensed it, they were working on MSFS already, in the background, with Asobo.

Dovetail didn’t add helicopters to FSW for the same reason Microsoft and Asobo didn’t: complexity and the will to do better. Although completely separate pieces of software (FSW and MSFS have nothing to do with each other except some portions of the flight dynamics that are being used – and perhaps some assets), the strategy behind the development of a highly complex piece of software was very similar.

  1. Develop the core sim and establish a stable version and then
  2. Build on top of it, using the feedback of users and developers

It’s the exact same principle here. This is not aimed towards you directly, but people are way too eager to bash Microsoft and Asobo and play the role of victims here saying “we were abandoned”. I have seen that quite often.

I WOULD feel abandoned if Microsoft said they would NOT add helicopters or if Microsoft didn’t care less and threw in FSX flight dynamics into the sim in a “here you go, screw you” way.

They didn’t. They were 100% transparent from the start and they have been saying they want to do helicopters properly BUT they need to take care of a lot of other stuff first.

Is that abandoning us? I actually see the opposite. I see them worried about delivering something that they believe should be better than what we had in FSX (and P3D for that matter).

I know this is not a popular perspective. I have been bashed and people have called me all sorts of names because I don’t jump into the bandwagon and bash Asobo, using strong words to make a point.

I believe in Microsoft and Asobo. They look me in the eyes (literally) on day 1 of my contact with the sim and they told me, face to face, what their intentions regarding helicopters were. I didn’t even ask: they came to me, directly, and explained me exactly what their plan was.

And they are sticking to it. Until they tell us helicopters are not being included or until they do an absolutelly terrible job at it, I have zero reasons to believe they are anything short of concerned about making helicopters a great feature of the sim.

The thing is, Microsoft has said, from the very beginning, that helicopters will be added. You’re the only one saying “maybe”.

Have you noticed that 0.90 is out

Yeah I’ve been testing all versions over time. I wish we could get a better count of the downloads, though. I would love to know how big the user base is.

H135 v0.90!!! thanks for the heads-up! I’m on it!!!

I will more than happy to be proven wrong. So much so, I wish Microsoft would prove me wrong as early as tomorrow.

Well that’s both a complicated and simple question.

Complicated: without knowing more details of your install we can’t help you.

Simple: you didn’t install it correctly
