Hmm ok but that was 21 days ago. Why am i getting it now when ive been on this sim for the last 4 weeks everyday?
Very uneasy about this. I’m being prompted for a 23gb update or I cant launch. More worrying is that I have been on this sim day in day out so why didnt it prompt me when it was released?
So its saying its got a new UI interface for airports…well i already had that!!! So what is it doing? gah this sim wrecks my head, it doesnt make sense!
You didn’t get an update last 4 weeks? Are you very sure?
What version number are you showing now, before the update? Current PC one should be 1.23.12.0 I think.
On xbox we got a mystery update that took it to 1.23.13.0 and seems to have caused numerous problems.
The same thing happened to me last week out of the blue. I was already running SU8 and I use the sim just about every day. It was 1.95 GB download. As I watched the file names flash by, it seemed to be downloading mostly the Aviator livery for every plane. The update reset most of my settings/preferences. No idea but it has been working fine since.
Same here. maybe it needs to update stuff i removed because i didnt want it like tutorials?
Positive. ive been running SU8 since it came out
Yep its just reset everything. Superb.
I had this last week, pain in the butt.
Your controllers profiles are still there but each will be set to the default profile, so don’t panic
Yes, I was thinking that also. I had removed all the Aviator liveries and it seemed to be putting them back. Not sure if this had something to do with the beta because it said something about a flighting, but I did not participate in the beta.
I found that MSFS will “let” you delete just about anything from Content Manager, but when you start back up, if it wants you to have it then guess what, it’s going to be installed again. I found out when I tried to delete some planes that were used for training. A couple of times I’ve just modified layout.json files, and the next time I started, the entire aircraft was downloaded again. Apparently it’s that sensitive.
Yep basically i deleted all the training and certain planes and airports i didnt need and liveries too. And for some reason today it prompted me for a mandatory 23gb update. So i just spent the last 30 minutes removing it all again!
I also deleted the enormously amount of bloatware, which left just 34 items remaining.
Every update, the wretched thing replaces all the deleted rubbish so I have to delete it all again.
Raised it with the awful Zendesk and got nowhere.
Will be the same tomorrow no doubt. If it’s not, I’ll mark that as a step forward.
You can edit the Content.XML as follows:
<Package name="microsoft-griffith-observatory" active="true"/>
can be changed to:
<Package name="microsoft-griffith-observatory" active="false"/>
The content is still loaded, but is not active in the sim. It’s the only use of the Content.xml
No need to delete content.
If it uses valuable disk space and is unwanted, it needs deleting and should be capable of remaining deleted.
There are PublishedPackages_Content_*.xml files that describe what kind of mandatory content is required. Whether or not deleting the packages and then removing their entries from those files will work I don’t know.
