Well, bad is relative… but I was used to the 747 from PMDG. Then add the bugs, all the stuff that didn’t work and it really felt like a giant flying türd.
I was happy to get rid of it.
But if you enjoy it - besides your bug - keep on flying! Sadly currently there’s no good alternatives, unless you want Airbus.
The 787 has now the identical FWB simulation the A320 has, which doesn’t make any sense.
You can’t trim anymore (well, you can, but the FBW system will immediately override your trim input)
and the Airbus flight path stability has also been implemented which is wrong for any Boeing.
If you don’t handfly the 787 you will not notice any difference of course.
It does. I can barely complete a flight with this, but I don’t know why or what triggers. This one I was able to recreate. So is it just me or is it a known bug?
This seems major, how can they implement something like this. Are you sure 787 doesn’t behave like this IRL?
Do you think heavy division mod has corrected this behavior as well?
I didn’t have any CTDs with the 747, but my flights are always shorter than an hour.
Concerning the 787; The behavior was correct until a few updates ago.
I have no idea why Asobo suddenly changed it.
The real one definitely doesn’t handle like that since the Boeing philosophy considerable differs from the Airbus philosophy.
Boeing aircraft are still pilots aircraft.
AFAIK the flight model can’t be modified on premium deluxe aircraft, hence I don’t think that any mod will change that, especially since this is a major change.
I don’t doubt your observations of the 787, and I don’t fly it myself, but somehow such a big change by Asobo (where the highest bar seems to be not having their stuff crash) sounds a bit strange to me.
Are you sure it’s not something in the community folder overriding? A mod meant for something else?
Oh yah, I do realise suddenly the 787 is encrypted… is it? Can’t be modded?
I’m not using any mods in MSFS and the FDM change has been confirmed by MS.
I assume that Asobo slapped the A320 FBW onto the 787 to get the weird pitch changes prior/at the flare under control.
Before this major change the 787 suffered from severe pitch up/down with aft/fwd CG, hence I’m afraid that we are stuck with this highly unrealistic behavior.
By reading another thread: someone mentioned that the sim has a new option called ‘AI auto trim’.
So I’m now wondering, seeing your complaint about not being able to trim the 787, more or less out of the blue… might that be it? In which case you can probably turn it off (I didn’t know about this option).
