Plus you may save some download time if you have your sim installed in a non-default folder.

All you would need to do is install the core sim, but when it comes to part where it asks you where to install the sim to, point to the non-standard folder. For me, that is “D:\Flight Simulator”.

The core sim is only about 2GB I think, so a fast download. If you were using the default location, i.e. inside your user profile, you could be in for a long download, but that location can be changed after the fact.
