Just want to note that I am very happy with both the sim and the splashcreen. See my initial post in this thread:
I took on @N6722C challenge to reproduce the screenshot as I thought it would be interesting and, actually, I was pretty confident that it represented what the sim was capable of. What I’ve discovered is that the sim looks actually capable of delivering slightly better than this, and as my earlier post says, I don’t believe any other simulator will come close to this for default scenery.
PG has its faults of course - but it works brilliantly from any kind of sensible altitude - and about 300-400 feet here it looks pretty great. I think it is a bit dark in some areas and doesn’t blend that well sometimes into the surrounding areas (I started a wish list topic for this) and bridges can look like dams (another wishlist topic). However I think the google version is “over exposed” and washed out - maybe something in between with a bit more colour sturation would be perfect.
But I, for one, am certainly not complaining.
