So i was doing some research and realized that the PMDG 77W kinda works in 2024. You just can’t start at the gate because it causes a bunch of weird things to happen. If you start on the runway (engines already running) you can fly the 77W without major issues. I figured that starting in walk-around mode makes the plane go wonky. I explored the content.exe and found a bunch of things named “character” I disabled most of them through addonlinker and guess what… NO MORE STARTING IN WALKAROUND. this means I could get the PMDG to work from the gate. but here’s the caveat. With the character disabled, you won’t be able to go into walk-around mode to toggle the chocks, pitot tube, etc for the stock aircraft. For me, this isn’t a problem because I don’t fly the default aircraft. If you’re going to try this, make a backup of the content.exe just in case but if you do manage to mess something up, just delete the entire content.exe file and MSFS2024 will generate a new one on the next start. Heres what I disabled through addon linker for this to work.

Updated content.xml as you described and I am able to get PMDG 737 IRS to align from cold and dark which I wasn’t able to do before. With IRS aligned, it allows programming of FMS from full cold and dark with correct aircraft position. I’m able to do a quick test flight (KPHL->KBOS) without major issue, other than the documented TCAS issue. There’re probably other bugs but at least the plane is flyable.

I manually disabled those settings in the content.xml with notepad and it does work by putting you in the cockpit. If you use an asobo plane the wheel chocks and various covers will still be on so you still can’t fly it.
Try this:
- Developer Mode ON
- Debug → Aircraft → Covers and Chocks
You can toggle them on/off there.

But, for a mysterious reason, the sim becomes unstable if I shift to Developer Mode (nearly always freezes and crashes to the desktop).
So… for now I have to begin on the runway with the engines on.

This is huge!!! I’ve just tested PMDG 737 from the ramp and everything works. I didn’t do a full flight yet, but I was able to start the plane and align IRS. Something that didn’t work before.
