Shameless plug, but that’s exactly why I wrote Aircraft Manager for MSFS - Sonicviz to help me solve that dissonance from “Airplane Overload”.
Free version is fine to solve a few issues, as you can sort and filter beyond what the aircraft selection allows you to.
Some ways to use it to get the best out of your collection and really learn the aircraft you already own:
- Sort by speed, select planes within a narrow range together and compare/contrast them
- Tag them by category, compare/contrast a couple together in the same location. eg: STOL, Seaplanes
Make up your own system!
That’s also why I wrote Location Manager for MSFS - Sonicviz to complement AM, because choosing locations can be almost as tiring.
Start to build up a collection of favorite locations, then you can sort them by counrty, tag by type of flying etc etc.
Once you are able to organise the information about your aircraft and locations you start to find it easier to come up with ideas about how to use them for a session. My 2 yen anyway!
ps: One early tester had ~488 planes, so you have a ways to go to beat that😱
