Welcome to the club. I recently returned to using Xbox myself since I had a Series X as well. For me the problem was for some unknown reason, something with game services I think, flight simulator came uninstalled, and I kept being redirected to the Microsoft Store. I’d forgotten how plug and play Xbox was. And such a vast improvement in the marketplace since I was last on with a Series S last year.

I dont know much about Xbox (although I am a console user also but PS4).

Can you use mods from flightsim.to, how easy is it to mod on the XB?

I’ll always want to use a gaming PC for FS but the XB could be the solution to one issue I have - I travel a lot every year around S.E Asia (where I live) and I miss FS20 so much.

The gaming PC is of course left at home. My PS4 comes with me always but an XB would let me bring MSFS with me  :cloud:

It would however need to fit easily into a backpack. Will have a think :slightly_smiling_face:

Glad to hear you’re happy with the purchase!

The Series X ( which is the recommend machine for running MSFS) is quite large and bulky. Not sure I’d want to lug it around in a backpack…

I just looked it up and I see what you mean, no way i can lug that around.

Hopefully they’ll come up with a slim form factor…

They already have: the Series S!

Shame it’s not really capable of running any more than the vanilla sim…

I did see that and its a nice size but many are saying it doesn’t really have the grunt to go full bore on the FS20 experience…

I’m hoping they do a shrink on the XBSX!

Unfortunately not, you are limited to Marketplace only.

I am thinking about buying the Xbox X.
I only use the stock version of MSFS Deluxe with NO addons.
Sounds like the box is a pretty stable choice for what I want and then I wont have to buy from these greedy GPU manufacturers.

With no or only well optimised scenery, it runs perfectly on Series X. I actually use a ton of third-party stuff and until this weekend hadn’t ha a CTD for 5-6 weeks. To put some perspective on that, I probably put in 5-8 hours most days.

I’ve got a series X with a stupid number of add-one installed (probably around 250 at the moment, including sceneries / terrain packs / birds etc) and haven’t had an issue with CTDs. Some airports can be a bit rubbish if you load in with DLC planes but 99% of the time, it runs like a purring kitten!

Oh I see ok, thanks for the info!

Got my Xbox S in 2022 just for MSFS. I was very happy. After time and many, many marketplace purchases I felt I needed a little more Umph! Convinced myself to move up to Xbox X. Glad I did  Xbox S is a great introduction to MSFS and if your a casual simmer then its great. If you have the means then spring for a Xbox X.

I bought my Xbox Series X almost exclusively for MSFS. I don’t have a huge budget for gaming so the XSX was the best option for me. After 16 months, I’m definitely happy with it. As we all know, it can’t do everything PC can, particularly when it comes to mods, but I knew and accepted that before I bought it. As someone who sits firmly in between serious simmer and casual simmer, it does everything I need it to. As long as they continue to improve the sim and keep it as stable as possible on Xbox, I don’t think I’d ever regret going this route.

I’m playing on the Series S with a lot of add ons across the board. Never get CTDs, only on occasion if using quick resume but that’s not an MSFS thing, that’s a quick-resume being rubbish with online games.

I found a 4th gen m.2 nvme drive was the best upgrade for running sims.

Considering I had a 12 year or so hiatus from MSFS, playing on XBSX with an articulated 55" TV 2" behind the V1 yoke is quite the experience, especially considering the total relative cost and simplicity. Got TB pedals on the way, to make it even simpler(than the old slaved TM hotas setup). I can put all this away and switch to a full Fanatec racing rig on casters and become an F1 driver in about 4 minutes… It’s come a long way.

Hello Minskie. Welcome to MSFS. I’ve got the Xbox X. Thrustmaster HOTAS One.

Hi Rich, thanks for the welcome.

I am using the VelocityOne flight stick which is great but I wish there was some device that could convert all my PC Yoke, Pedals etc to use with Xbox.

I find myself darting between the PC and Xbox now. Xbox runs rings around my PC in terms of power and performance (the reason I bought it) ! A kind of insurance against hardware depreciation.

I’m retired too. Fun aint it !

Cheers
